Equal values share a rank. INT in passing means interceptions thrown; defensive interceptions are a separate category. Sacks taken or allowed are separate from defensive sacks. Yardage columns total the supplied season/week window unless their label specifies a rate. — = not supplied.
How to compare NFL team statistics
Why do the number of games and the date range matter?
A team with more included games has had more opportunities to accumulate yards, plays and points. Start with the displayed season, week range and games counted, where shown. Compare equivalent windows before judging one team’s total against another. Missing values are not zero.
Are passing yards and net passing yards the same?
No. Gross passing yards count yardage on completed passes. Net passing yards also account for yardage lost to sacks. Check the column label before comparing the two. Sacks allowed describe the offense; defensive sacks describe the defense.
Do more yards mean a better record?
Yardage measures production, while wins and losses record game outcomes. Turnovers, field position and scoring efficiency can lead to different results for teams with similar yardage. Read team totals alongside the game results and standings rather than treating the yardage ranking as a prediction.
