THE WHY BEHIND THE GAME

NFL strength of schedule.

Who faces the toughest road from here, and who has had it easy.

Compare the hardest and easiest remaining NFL schedules in 2026 using opponents’ combined win percentage. Rank 1 is the hardest. Current records include completed games through Week 5; a week still in progress is incomplete.

Who has the hardest and easiest remaining schedule?

Hardest remaining (tied): Arizona Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks — .581 opponents’ win percentage.

Easiest remaining: Jacksonville Jaguars — .364 opponents’ win percentage.

These rankings describe opponents’ records, not a prediction of future wins. Early-season rankings can change sharply.

Results through (Eastern time).

Calculated by WHYNFL from final scores and the published schedule. Regular season only; ties count as half a win.

How is strength of schedule calculated?

Add the wins, losses and ties of every remaining opponent, counting an opponent twice when two meetings remain. Divide wins plus half the ties by total games: (wins + 0.5 × ties) ÷ (wins + losses + ties). An opponent’s games against the team being ranked are included.

For example, a combined opponent record of 10 wins, 8 losses and 2 ties gives (10 + 1) ÷ 20 = .550. This is an illustration of the calculation, not a current team’s record. Equal percentages rounded to three decimal places share a rank; a dash means no percentage is available.

Current records or last season’s records?

The current-record column changes as games finish. The 2025 column applies last season’s final records to the games that remain this season; it is not the full preseason schedule ranking. The opponents-played column covers games already completed. Read the NFL schedule alongside the current standings for each matchup’s context.
