The Indianapolis Colts play in the AFC South. This hub brings together the club’s official roster, player profiles, and related coverage.
The roster at a glance
The source lists 74 active, practice-squad, and reserve-list entries after released and transferred entries are excluded; 54 carry its ACT designation. An active-roster label is not a guarantee that a player will dress for a particular game.
Linked player names below open individual profiles. The roster was checked on September 20, 2026. It is a dated roster snapshot, not a game-day inactive report.
Why Colts history begins before Indianapolis
The present Colts franchise began in Baltimore in 1953 and played there through the 1983 season. The move to Indianapolis in 1984 changed its home city, while the earlier Baltimore seasons remained part of the same franchise’s record. Indianapolis was not an expansion team starting from zero that year.
Memorial Stadium, the dome and Lucas Oil Stadium
Baltimore era: Memorial Stadium was the Colts’ home before the move to Indiana.
1984–2007: the Indianapolis Colts played in the Hoosier Dome, renamed the RCA Dome in 1994.
From 2008: Lucas Oil Stadium became the team’s Indianapolis home.
Hoosier Dome and RCA Dome are two names for the same building. Lucas Oil Stadium is its successor, so the 1994 naming change should not be counted as another stadium move. The Colts’ 2006 championship season still belongs to the RCA Dome period.
How the 1968 NFL champions could lose the Super Bowl
Baltimore won NFL championships in 1958, 1959 and 1968. The last of those requires some context: the NFL and AFL still had separate league champions before the 1970 merger realignment.
In the 1968 postseason, the Colts beat Cleveland 34–0 to win the NFL championship. They then faced the AFL champion New York Jets in Super Bowl III and lost 16–7. Winning that year’s NFL title did not automatically mean winning the subsequent game between the two league champions.
The franchise’s Super Bowl victories came later:
1970 season, Baltimore: a 16–13 victory over Dallas in Super Bowl V, played in January 1971.
2006 season, Indianapolis: a 29–17 victory over Chicago in Super Bowl XLI, played in February 2007.
These results explain why a Colts championship list can include three earlier NFL titles alongside two Super Bowl wins without treating them as five Super Bowl victories.

Plays & drives across covered games
UPDATEDUpdated Oct 4, 2026, 10:47 am EDT
Play and drive totals cover 49 completed games across 32 teams. Games counted can differ by team. Rates use summed outcomes and opportunities; no minimum attempts apply. A missing value in any counted game withholds that metric. These are dated covered-game figures, not a complete season.

First downs count the play record's total flags, including recorded penalty awards; they can differ from drive summaries. Conversion attempts use recorded converted and failed down flags, including flagged kneels. Nullified downs, punts and field goals are not inferred attempts.
Inside-20 drives have a recorded down starting closer than 20 yards from the opponent's goal line. Reaching only the 20 is excluded. Only touchdowns for the possessing team on those drives count. This definition is not an official league red-zone ranking.
Possession includes overtime. Time is minutes:seconds; per-game time is rounded to the nearest second. Possession share divides the team's recorded seconds by the full elapsed time of its counted games, including overtime. Rates use summed opportunities and zero opportunities have no percentage. Equal displayed values share a rank; rankings describe only the matching supplied teams. — = not supplied.
Regular-season record and points; postseason shows how each run ended. Expected W is the win total implied by points scored and allowed (Pythagorean expectation, exponent 2.37); the small figure is actual minus expected, where +1 or more suggests close-game luck. From WHYNFL's results archive, which begins in 1999, counted by franchise (Raiders include Oakland, Chargers San Diego, Rams St. Louis). Splits cover the regular season and playoffs: night games kick off at 7 pm Eastern or later (games without a listed kickoff are left out), and one-score games are decided by 8 points or fewer.
