The moves that matter

Ravens clear two quarterback spots. Baltimore announced that it signed Reed to the 53-man roster and placed Jackson, who has a thumb injury, and Huntley, who needs surgery for turf toe, on injured reserve. The club also elevated outside linebacker Adisa Isaac and kicker Jake Moody from the practice squad for the game. Ian Rapoport reported that Reed is the backup to Fagnano on Thursday night. Reed joined the practice squad on Monday, as our Monday roundup explains, and Moody is filling in after Tyler Loop went on injured reserve.

Placing a player on injured reserve during the season keeps him out for at least four games. The Jacoby Brissett trade with the Arizona Cardinals still had not been made official by Thursday night and is expected to be completed this weekend. Jesse Minter’s comments on Fagnano are in our Fagnano story, and the Huntley details are in our Wednesday injury report.

Jaguars call up a safety. Jacksonville elevated safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig from the practice squad for the game in Baltimore, its only move of the day.

Rams promote Karty. Los Angeles signed Karty from its practice squad to the active roster and added cornerback David Long Jr., who began his career with the Rams, to the practice squad. The Rams had brought Karty back on the practice squad earlier this season. Sean McVay said this week that the team has more injuries than in any year he has coached, as our McVay story explains.

White returns to Las Vegas. The Raiders announced that they signed White, whom they released on Wednesday as a vested veteran, and waived tight end Carter Runyon, who had been reinstated from injured reserve on Wednesday.

Other Thursday moves

Injured reserve and waivers. The Chicago Bears placed running back Zavier Scott, a regular on special teams, on injured reserve. The Giants waived Haener, their third quarterback, from the 53-man roster. The Cleveland Browns waived tight end Carsen Ryan one day after promoting him from the practice squad.

Practice squad signings. Kansas City signed receiver Bub Means, whom the Browns released from practice squad injured reserve earlier this week. Buffalo signed cornerback Kader Kohou, who had been released from the Chiefs’ practice squad, and the New England Patriots brought back cornerback Kindle Vildor, whom they had released from the 53-man roster. The Minnesota Vikings signed guard C.J. Hanson. The Seattle Seahawks signed linebacker Jamie Sheriff alongside quarterback Adrian Martinez, who is in our late Wednesday supplement, and released linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo and receiver Malick Meiga from the practice squad.

Waiver wire visits. Mike Garafolo reported that former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Jakorian Bennett, who cleared waivers on Wednesday, visited the Carolina Panthers on Thursday. No signing had been announced by Thursday night.

What comes next

The Brissett trade should become official this weekend, and Baltimore will need a roster spot for him. Rams cornerback Jaylen Watson is headed for season-ending shoulder surgery, as our Wednesday injury roundup explains, but the Rams had not moved him to injured reserve by Thursday night. The Minnesota Vikings will start Carson Wentz on Monday night with Kyler Murray out with a hamstring injury, and Kevin O’Connell said injured reserve is “not under consideration at all” for Murray. Brandon Aiyuk is due to report to the San Francisco 49ers on Friday, as our Aiyuk story explains. The trade deadline is Tuesday, November 10, at 4 p.m. ET.
