Wednesday’s full Week 9 reports filled in what Tuesday’s first wave left open. Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is out against the Cardinals, Rams cornerback Jaylen Watson needs season-ending shoulder surgery, and the Ravens and Jaguars filed their final reports for Thursday night with Bhayshul Tuten, Travon Walker and Nate Wiggins all questionable. The Patriots, Jets, Browns, Giants and Eagles each had notable names sit out.

  • Darnold has a quadriceps injury and a cracked rib, is week to week and will not go on injured reserve; Drew Lock is set to start Sunday
  • Watson dislocated his shoulder earlier this year, aggravated it against the Chargers last week and will have surgery that ends his season
  • Tuten missed all three practices and is questionable, and coach Liam Coen expects a game-time decision; Walker (rib) is questionable too
  • Ravens corner Wiggins (stinger, illness) did not practice and is questionable, while guard Vega Ioane has no designation and Joe Fagnano is off the report
  • A.J. Brown, Hunter Henry, Barmore and Henderson did not practice for the Patriots
  • Garrett Wilson and Deshaun Watson, both in the concussion protocol, did not practice

Seahawks: Darnold is out, Lock is next

Coach Mike Macdonald said Darnold hurt his quad at the end of Monday night’s loss to the Bears and also cracked a rib on the second play of that game. “It’s going to be week to week for Sam,” Macdonald said, adding that he will not go on injured reserve. Lock, who has been limited with a right elbow injury for the past few weeks, is expected to start, with Jalen Milroe ready behind him, and Seattle signed Adrian Martinez to the practice squad on Wednesday.

The Seahawks (4-4) walked through on Wednesday, so their report is an estimate. Left tackle Charles Cross (ankle), defensive tackle Leonard Williams (stinger) and receiver Rashid Shaheed (knee), all of whom missed Monday’s game, did not practice, but Macdonald said they “all have a chance to play.” For Arizona, guard Jon Gaines (ankle), running back Bam Knight (concussion) and tackle Jayden Williams (knee) did not practice, while Walter Nolen (ankle), Isaiah Adams (ankle) and receiver Michael Wilson, who is dealing with ribs, were limited. The Cardinals visit Seattle at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday, which is 11:25 p.m. in Cairo.

Rams: Jaylen Watson is done for 2026

Watson missed a game earlier this year after dislocating the shoulder and aggravated it last week. Coach Sean McVay said, “That’s a big blow … He’s been such a stud for us,” explaining that surgery was recommended and that Watson will go on injured reserve. The Rams also had cornerback Trent McDuffie, safety Kam Curl, tight end Colby Parkinson and long snapper Joe Cardona sit out Wednesday, although McVay said McDuffie came in “feeling better than expected.” Los Angeles visits Washington on Sunday, where the Commanders have placed Daron Payne, Javon Kinlaw and Jeremy McNichols on injured reserve, meaning each will miss at least four games.

Thursday night: Tuten, Walker and Wiggins are questionable

The Jaguars (5-2) listed Tuten (ankle, foot) as questionable after he missed practice Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Coen said, “I would think it’s probably going to go up to game time.” Tuten leads Jacksonville with 673 scrimmage yards, so Chris Rodriguez Jr. (hand, limited) is the back to watch, with LeQuint Allen and Ameer Abdullah behind him. Defensive end Travon Walker (rib) is also questionable after going from a non-participant on Monday to limited on Tuesday and Wednesday. Safety Antonio Johnson, who missed last week’s win over the Colts, has no designation.

For the Ravens (4-4), Wiggins missed Wednesday with a stinger and an illness after two full practices, and running back Adam Randall (neck) is questionable. Safety Jaylinn Hawkins (knee) is out for a third straight game, along with quarterbacks Lamar Jackson (right thumb) and Tyler Huntley (toe). Ioane, the rookie guard, is back after missing one game, and Fagnano (ankle) came off the report, so he starts his first NFL game. Baltimore’s Wednesday report was an estimate after a walkthrough, as noted in our Wednesday injury story. Kickoff is 8:15 p.m. ET, 3:15 a.m. Friday in Cairo.

Patriots: four sit out with Packers coming

Brown (ankle, knee), tight end Hunter Henry (foot), Barmore (illness) and Henderson (illness) did not practice for New England, which hosts Green Bay on Sunday. Quarterback Drake Maye (right shoulder) was a full participant. Linebacker Dre’Mont Jones (shoulder, knee), tackle Morgan Moses (foot), safety Kevin Byard (chest), cornerback Carlton Davis (neck), Mack Hollins (calf) and Greg Van Roten were limited. In Green Bay, Micah Parsons practiced in a limited role as his 21-day window opened, and linebacker Zaire Franklin (shin), Travis Glover (knee) and tight end Josh Whyle (concussion) did not practice, as covered in our Wednesday morning story.

Jets, Browns, Giants and Eagles

Wilson is in the concussion protocol and did not practice for the Jets, who visit Kansas City, along with defensive tackle Harrison Phillips (ankle). Hall (quad), David Bailey (groin), Joseph Ossai (ankle), Mason Taylor (back) and Trevin Wallace (groin) were limited, and coach Aaron Glenn said the group is “trending in the right direction.” Kansas City had only Peter Woods (neck) sit out, while Travis Kelce (ankle) and Rashee Rice (hamstring, knee) were limited and Patrick Mahomes (knee) was full.

Cleveland goes to New Orleans with Watson in the protocol, and linebacker Quincy Williams (hamstring), tackle Austin Barber (calf) and Maliek Collins (elbow) also sat out. Shedeur Sanders is in line to start. On the other side, Alvin Kamara was a rest day and Jordyn Tyson was limited. In Philadelphia, running back Saquon Barkley (hamstring, back) and receivers DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) did not practice, while the Giants had Skattebo and linebacker Abdul Carter (illness) out. Coach John Harbaugh called Skattebo day to day and said Carter should be fine for Sunday.

Around the league

  • Bears: Kyle Monangai (thumb, toe), Zavier Scott (wrist), Theo Benedet (shoulder), Grady Jarrett (groin) and T.J. Edwards (personal) did not practice, in an estimated report before Tampa Bay visits Sunday night
  • Buccaneers: Yaya Diaby (knee), Emeka Egbuka (foot) and Elijah Roberts (personal) did not practice, and Baker Mayfield (right thumb) was full
  • Cowboys: Caleb Downs (concussion, ankle), Jake Ferguson (ankle), KaVontae Turpin (ribs) and P.J. Locke III (concussion) sat out, and coach Brian Schottenheimer said Malachi Lawrence will miss multiple weeks
  • 49ers: Christian McCaffrey (hamstring), Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel (hamstring) did not practice, and Nick Bosa was limited
  • Texans: David Montgomery (groin) and Reed Blankenship (concussion, hand) did not practice ahead of the trip to the Chargers

What comes next

Thursday’s inactives will settle Tuten, Walker and Wiggins about 90 minutes before kickoff. For Sunday, Thursday’s reports are the next checkpoint for Brown and Henderson, Garrett Wilson and Watson’s concussion timelines, Skattebo, Barkley and Smith, and whether Cross, Leonard Williams and Shaheed return for Seattle. The Bills and Vikings file their first reports Thursday ahead of Monday night.
