Lamar Jackson was a full participant in practice on Wednesday for the first time since he sprained his ankle on October 4. The Baltimore Ravens’ official report, filed late Wednesday night Cairo time, was the best sign yet that their quarterback will start Sunday’s game in Buffalo. Elsewhere, the Detroit Lions held out Jahmyr Gibbs with a shoulder injury that had not been reported before, the Cincinnati Bengals listed Ja’Marr Chase as a non-participant, and the Los Angeles Rams said Myles Garrett will not practice this week.
- Ravens: Lamar Jackson full; Kyle Hamilton, Roquan Smith, Jaylinn Hawkins and Vega Ioane did not practice
- Lions: Jahmyr Gibbs (shoulder) and Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) did not practice before the Minnesota Vikings game
- Bengals: Ja’Marr Chase did not practice, listed with an ankle injury and rest
- Rams: no 21-day practice window yet for Myles Garrett or Terrance Ferguson
- Chargers: Jim Harbaugh says Derwin James had a setback and could go on injured reserve
- Eagles: Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith estimated as non-participants; Dameon Pierce on injured reserve
- Texans: Jaylin Noel on injured reserve with turf toe
Lamar Jackson is a full participant
Jackson practiced on a limited basis all three days last week and was listed as questionable, but the Ravens ruled him out and he was inactive for the 35-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Wednesday was his first full practice since October 2. Head coach Jesse Minter did not reveal his participation level after practice, but the report did. “It’s going to be a big boost,” left tackle Ronnie Stanley said. “Lamar is the best player in the NFL. We all know how good of a player he is, but we don’t want to rely on him having to carry us as a team.”
Two leaders of the defense, safety Kyle Hamilton (knee) and linebacker Roquan Smith (knee), did not practice. Smith briefly left the Bengals game in the fourth quarter before returning. “A few guys that missed today I would say are dealing with typical after-game things,” Minter said. “So we feel pretty good about it. We’ll kind of see how they are throughout the week.” Safety Jaylinn Hawkins (knee) and rookie guard Vega Ioane (knee) also sat out, and Calais Campbell had a rest day. Minter did not rule Ioane out for Sunday. “If there’s anybody that can do something crazy and overcome things, he’s got the right mentality,” he said. Guard John Simpson (groin), nose tackle John Jenkins (knee), Stanley (rest, toe, ankle), cornerback T.J. Tampa Jr. (knee) and defensive lineman Broderick Washington (ankle) were limited.
On the Buffalo side, right tackle Spencer Brown (back) was the only Bills player who did not practice. Receiver DJ Moore (shoulder) was limited, and Mike Garafolo reported that Moore improved over the bye and the hope is he plays on Sunday. Defensive tackle Ed Oliver (knee) returned to practice on a limited basis after missing two games.
Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown sit out for the Lions
Gibbs was listed with a shoulder injury, which had not come up before Wednesday. Dan Campbell said earlier in the day that he would give several players a day “off their feet”, and the team gave no sign that it expects to be without Gibbs or St. Brown on Sunday. St. Brown hurt his ankle in the 20-17 win over the Green Bay Packers, and Campbell had already said he would be limited to the walk-through, with the plan for him to practice on Thursday. Cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (ankle), safety Kerby Joseph (knee) and running back Jacob Saylors (neck) were limited. Aidan Hutchinson, Penei Sewell, Alim McNeill and DJ Wonnum had rest days, and defensive tackle Tyleik Williams was ill.
The 6-0 Vikings, who visit Detroit, held out running back Aaron Jones Sr. and guard Joe Huber, both with knee injuries. Kevin O’Connell called Jones day-to-day after he left the Indianapolis Colts game early in the fourth quarter. Right tackle Brian O’Neill (knee) was limited.
Ja’Marr Chase does not practice
The Bengals listed Chase as a non-participant because of an ankle injury and rest. Cincinnati beat the Ravens on Sunday behind four second-half touchdown passes from Joe Burrow and hosts the Tennessee Titans this week. Thursday’s report will show whether Wednesday was mostly a rest day.
Myles Garrett’s wait goes on
Sean McVay said the Rams will not open the 21-day practice window for Garrett this week. Garrett has been on injured reserve since September 17, after knee surgery that followed the opener against the San Francisco 49ers. McVay had sounded hopeful last week that Garrett could practice this week. “It’s really the same thing I’ve told you guys,” McVay said. “I know it’s frustrating, but he’s making good progress, and we’re just on a week-to-week basis right now.” Tight end Terrance Ferguson (ankle), who became eligible to return this week, will not practice either.
There was better news on two other fronts. McVay said Davante Adams’ hamstring clean-out surgery went well and that his return should be at the shorter end of the six-to-10-week timeline. Cornerback Trent McDuffie, who has missed two games with a groin injury, was limited, and linebacker Nate Landman (concussion) was a full participant. Long snapper Joe Cardona (ankle) and tight end Colby Parkinson (ribs) did not practice, and the Rams signed Jake McQuaide to the practice squad as cover at long snapper.
Derwin James could go on injured reserve
Jim Harbaugh said the Los Angeles Chargers’ star safety had a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury and is a candidate for injured reserve. James has not played since Week 3. If he goes on the list before Sunday’s game against the Rams, the earliest he could return is Week 12. Tony Jefferson is in line to start at strong safety. Guard Kayode Awosika (fibula), defensive back Deane Leonard (concussion) and receiver Brenen Thompson (quadriceps, hamstring) also did not practice, while receiver Ladd McConkey (concussion) was a full participant.
Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith on the Eagles’ estimated report
The Philadelphia Eagles only held a walk-through after Monday night’s 38-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, so their report was an estimate. Barkley was listed as a non-participant with hamstring and back injuries after lasting 10 snaps on Monday. “The hamstring came out great,” Barkley said after the game. “The back just locked up on me.” Receivers DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle), linebacker Jihaad Campbell (hamstring, quadriceps), returner Britain Covey (knee) and cornerback Jonathan Jones were also listed as non-participants. Outside linebacker Nolan Smith (concussion) was limited in his first practice since he suffered a concussion in Week 6.
The Eagles also placed running back Dameon Pierce on injured reserve, which keeps him out for at least four games, and signed Jaydon Blue to the active roster. Philadelphia plays the Washington Commanders on Sunday night.
Chiefs and Broncos
Rashee Rice (hamstring, knee) and rookie defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott (knee) were limited for Kansas City, and cornerback L’Jarius Sneed did not practice for a personal reason and a knee injury. Patrick Mahomes (knee) and Travis Kelce (ankle) were full participants. For Denver, receiver Jaylen Waddle (chest), defensive lineman Zach Allen (hamstring) and safety Talanoa Hufanga (ankle) did not practice, while cornerback Pat Surtain II (ankle) was a full participant.
Jaylin Noel goes on injured reserve
The Houston Texans placed second-year receiver Jaylin Noel on injured reserve with the turf toe injury he suffered in Sunday’s overtime loss to the New York Giants. He is expected to have surgery and miss the rest of the season. Houston claimed running back Emari Demercado off waivers to take his roster spot.
In Arizona, rookie running back Jeremiyah Love was a limited participant in his return to practice after missing two games with an ankle injury.

The Carolina Panthers ruled out Jaelan Phillips, Damien Lewis, Torricelli Simpkins III and Akayleb Evans. Kickoff is 2:15 am Friday in Cairo. The full Panthers-Packers injury picture is here.
What to watch on Thursday
