The NFL is bringing a Super Bowl-style fan house to Mexico City for the week of Vikings-49ers. NFL México announced “Barrio NFL” on Wednesday, October 28, at 9:01 a.m. local time (6:01 p.m. in Cairo): four days of free access, from Wednesday, November 18, to Saturday, November 21, at Casa Grande, Fernando Montes de Oca 126, in the Condesa neighborhood. It is the first time the league has run the format in Mexico.

The same evening, the league’s Mexico office said ticket demand had forced it to open more seats for Noche de Cascos y Máscaras, its first lucha libre night with the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), at Arena México on Wednesday, November 18, at 7:30 p.m. local time. The week ends on Sunday, November 22, when Minnesota faces San Francisco at Estadio Banorte in the league’s first regular-season game in Mexico in four years and its first Sunday night game played outside the United States.

What is inside Casa Grande

The league describes Casa Grande as its Mexico headquarters for the week, in the same way it sets up a fan hub in each Super Bowl city. The centerpiece is an NFL Museum with the Vince Lombardi Trophy and the rings from all 60 Super Bowls. Around it, the house is split into four zones named after Mexico City neighborhoods.

Doctores, home of Arena México, has a small wrestling ring and lucha libre masks designed for all 32 clubs. Coyoacán recreates a town-square fiesta with traditional games and photo spots. Condesa holds the official NFL shop, stocked with pieces for game day. Tepito pays tribute to the city’s hand-painted sign tradition, known as rotulismo, with football memorabilia and historical pieces.

From Wednesday to Friday, local artisans will run afternoon workshops on making lucha libre masks, signature cocktails and rotulismo. Places are limited and are allocated on site, first come, first served.

How to get in for free

Entry is free but needs a ticket in the NFL OnePass app. Each adult must apply individually and can add up to four children. The ticket must be shown live in the app at the door; screenshots and printed QR codes will not be accepted. Visits run in 45-minute slots of up to 100 people, and everyone goes through a security check. In its announcement post, NFL México pointed fans to the OnePass registration.

Mexico City stays on UTC-6 all year. By the week of the game, U.S. Eastern time will be UTC-5 and Egypt will be on winter time, UTC+2, so Cairo is eight hours ahead of Mexico City. Our clock-change guide explains the Egyptian change.

Lucha libre at Arena México

Noche de Cascos y Máscaras, “Night of Helmets and Masks,” is an NFL-themed CMLL card in which the wrestlers will wear gear inspired by the league. NFL México first announced it on October 13, and tickets went on sale through Ticketmaster on October 16. On October 28 at 12:26 p.m. local time (9:26 p.m. in Cairo), the league said “the great response from fans” had led it to release more seats. The bell is at 7:30 p.m. in Mexico City, which is 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, in Cairo.

Who sings and who plays at Estadio Banorte

The music for game night has been set since September. The Warning, the Monterrey rock trio, will headline the halftime show, one of a record seven international halftime shows this season. Majo Aguilar will sing the Mexican national anthem and MXKA the U.S. anthem. “I feel very happy to be able to perform the Mexican national anthem,” Aguilar said when she was announced. “It fills me with pride to be Mexican.”

San Francisco is the designated home team, and Minnesota is the visitor. Kickoff is 7:20 p.m. in Mexico City and 8:20 p.m. ET, which is 3:20 a.m. on Monday, November 23, in Cairo. The 49ers also played the first regular-season game in Mexico City in 2005 and the last one, a 38-10 win over Arizona in 2022. Our Mexico City countdown covers the background to the game.

The last stop on a nine-game world tour

Mexico City closes the league’s biggest international season. Before it come the Bengals and Falcons at the Bernabéu on November 8 and the Patriots and Lions in Munich on November 15. Our Munich and Madrid game-week guide has the fan events, parking and Cairo times for both. Four days after the Mexico City game, the league plays a five-game Thanksgiving week, starting on Thanksgiving Eve.

The league has not yet released the program for its ticket-holders-only fan area outside the stadium on game day. It also has not said when the two teams will arrive or where they will train.

The why matters.
