Philadelphia will play Dallas on Monday night without its top two wide receivers, while Barkley, Jonathan Greenard and four players still on injured reserve carry questionable tags into the weekend.

The Philadelphia Eagles will face the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night without their two leading wide receivers, after DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) were ruled out on the club’s final injury report on Saturday.

Both sat out every practice of the week. For a 2-4 team already playing without Jalen Hurts, the timing is hard: Tanner McKee will start at quarterback in an NFC East game with neither of the receivers he has leaned on most.

Who is out, who is questionable

Smith’s hamstring has bothered him since the summer. He aggravated it in Week 2, sat for two games and came back last Sunday against Carolina with seven catches, 75 yards and a touchdown, but he did not take a snap in practice this week. Monday will be the third game he has missed this season. Wicks hurt his ankle late in the 25-14 loss to the Panthers, and this will be the first game he misses as an Eagle.

Edge rusher Nolan Smith (concussion) and safety Michael Carter II (abdomen) are also out. Nolan Smith did not practice at all, and Carter misses a second straight week.

The questionable list is longer. Saquon Barkley (hamstring), who has missed the last two games, practiced fully on Saturday and said he would “love” to play against Dallas. Edge rusher Jonathan Greenard (ankle) is a game-time decision: he was limited on Thursday, then did not practice on Friday or Saturday, though he denied any setback. Jalyx Hunt (knee, ankle), who missed the Carolina game, was limited on Saturday and is also questionable.

Four more questionable players are still on injured reserve: guard Landon Dickerson (knee, pectoral), tight ends Eli Stowers (quad) and Grant Calcaterra (back) and cornerback Jakorian Bennett (knee). Each must be added to the active roster by Monday afternoon to play. If they are not, the club has one more week of their practice windows before it must activate them or keep them on IR for the season.

What it means against Dallas

The good news is at tight end. Dallas Goedert missed Thursday and Friday with a knee problem, the same knee that cost him two games earlier this fall, but he finished with a full session on Saturday and has no designation. “I want to be out there anytime I can,” he said. Hollywood Brown (ankle) and center Drew Kendall are also cleared.

Without Smith and Wicks, the receiver snaps fall to first-round rookie Makai Lemon and Brown, with Goedert as McKee’s most experienced target. Brown has yet to catch a pass for Philadelphia this season.

The Cowboys arrive healthier. Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown and cornerback Cobie Durant are back from hamstring injuries, while receiver KaVontae Turpin (ribs), linebacker Dee Winters and tackle Drew Shelton (hamstring) are out.

What comes next

The Cowboys visit Lincoln Financial Field on Monday, October 26, at 8:15 p.m. EDT; follow it in the Cowboys-Eagles Game Center. Inactive lists come 90 minutes before kickoff. The Eagles then play at Washington on Sunday, November 1. Every designation is on the injury report.

The why matters.
