Monday, October 19, closed out Week 6 with a full wire while the last game was still to be played in Santa Clara. The Los Angeles Rams got left tackle Alaric Jackson back from his suspension, the Buffalo Bills lost a safety to one and added a familiar cornerback, and the Washington Commanders got three players back from injured reserve for the Monday night game, which the San Francisco 49ers won 23-17.

No trades were processed on Monday. The trade deadline is Tuesday, November 10, at 4 p.m. ET.

The moves that matter

Jackson back for the Rams. The league reinstated Jackson after he served the one-game suspension for striking Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb, a ban that was cut from two games to one on appeal. He can start at Las Vegas on Sunday. The Rams also put kicker Blake Grupe on injured reserve with a torn ACL, and Mike Garafolo reported that they will work out Brandon McManus and Matt Prater on Tuesday. Our Rams injury story has the rest of Sean McVay’s list.

Bills: one out, one back. Buffalo moved C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the reserve/suspended list for one game, so he will miss the November 1 game against Baltimore after the Week 7 bye. The same day the club signed Tre’Davious White to the practice squad and released A.J. Woods. Read our White story and Joe Brady on the suspension.

Washington’s Monday night roster. Cornerback Trey Amos, linebacker Jordan Magee and running back Jeremy McNichols came off injured reserve and were cleared to play. Running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt and outside linebacker Javontae Jean-Baptiste went on injured reserve, linebacker Austin Keys was waived and outside linebacker T.J. Maguranyanga was called up from the practice squad.

49ers. San Francisco elevated linebacker Jalen Graham and receiver Malik Turner for the game and ruled out receiver Christian Kirk, whose practice window opened last week. Matt Barrows reported that the club later released offensive lineman Brett Toth from injured reserve with an injury settlement.

Falcons make it official. Atlanta filed the signing of Andy Dalton and the release of Cooper Rush, the moves first reported on Monday morning. Dalton gives the 2-4 Falcons a veteran behind Michael Penix Jr.

Kicking competition in Baltimore. The Ravens brought Jake Moody back to their practice squad a day after Tyler Loop missed from 49 yards in the 13-10 loss at Cleveland. Baltimore had signed Moody in the preseason and cut him from the practice squad on September 15. Jesse Minter called Loop’s misses “critical” on Monday; read his full comments.

Practice squad names. Green Bay worked out former Dallas first-round pick Mazi Smith and signed him to the practice squad; the Packers have three defensive linemen on injured reserve, Javon Hargrave among them. Las Vegas released Evan Neal, the seventh pick in the 2022 draft, from its practice squad and signed tackles Amari Kight and Darian Kinnard. Houston brought back cornerback Collin Wright after he cleared waivers, Aaron Wilson reported.

Already covered. Romeo Doubs’ move to injured reserve, Elliott Davison’s promotion in New England, Tanner Hudson’s placement in Cincinnati, Croskey-Merritt and Jean-Baptiste, and the opening of Jordan Mason’s practice window in Minnesota are in our Monday injury roundup. Josh Jacobs’ return from the exempt list is in our exempt list story.

What comes next

The Rams need a kicker before Sunday, and Davante Adams’ absence could bring a receiver move too. The Patriots and Bears play on Thursday night, so their elevations will come first. Most clubs file their next round of injured reserve returns once practice opens on Wednesday.

The why matters.
