The moves that matter

Cardinals lose Love and Bourne. Arizona placed Love on injured reserve after he hurt his right ankle again in Sunday’s 33-30 overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys. Ian Rapoport reported a high-ankle sprain that will keep him out four to five weeks, and the team said he is out at least the next four games. It is the third ankle injury Love has had since the preseason began. He had nine carries for 23 yards before leaving on Sunday and has 268 yards on 76 carries in six games. Bourne, who has 26 catches for 263 yards in eight games, was placed on injured reserve with a fractured tibia that Adam Schefter reported on Monday will keep him out for about three months.

Arizona promoted rookie receiver Harrison Wallace III from the practice squad to take Bourne’s roster spot, re-signed tight end Rivaldo Fairweather to the practice squad, and put tight end Kenny Yeboah, who was elevated for the Dallas game, on practice squad injured reserve. Tyler Allgeier, who ran for a career-best 147 yards on 11 carries in Dallas, goes back to the top of the depth chart, and James Conner remains on injured reserve.

Saints cut their kicker. New Orleans terminated Carlson’s contract and claimed Estime off waivers from Cleveland, the team that waived him on Monday. Carlson was 8 of 12 on field goals and 16 of 18 on extra points in seven games, including 3 of 7 from 50 yards or longer, after a 22-of-27 season in 2025. The league’s log showed no kicker signing for the Saints by late Tuesday afternoon. Estime had nine carries for 19 yards and a touchdown in his only game for the Browns, and the Saints, who are 2-5, host Cleveland on Sunday, November 8. Travis Etienne Jr. is on injured reserve, and Field Yates pointed to the claim as a possible sign for Etienne, who is eligible to return.

Commanders hit the injured reserve list hard. Washington placed Payne, Kinlaw and McNichols on injured reserve at the same time. Tashan Reed reported that Payne and McNichols, who both have foot injuries, are not expected back this season, while Kinlaw’s knee injury has no timetable yet. Payne’s foot fracture was covered in our Saturday injury report. To add depth at running back, the Commanders claimed Robert Henry Jr. off waivers from Seattle, which had waived him on Monday. Henry was with Washington in training camp, and Tom Pelissero noted that injuries at the position brought him back.

Bills move on from Gardner-Johnson. Buffalo released the veteran safety on Tuesday, a day after the league lifted his suspension. The Bills announced the move on X and did not give a reason in their post.

Ravens lose their kicker and keep adding quarterbacks. Baltimore placed Loop on injured reserve with a right groin injury, and Tom Pelissero reported he is out at least four games. Jake Moody was expected to kick on Thursday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars. At quarterback, the Ravens signed Kedon Slovis, who was reportedly on the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad, and Pelissero reported that Baltimore also worked out former UFL MVP Adrian Martinez. Green Bay signed quarterback Cam Miller to its practice squad. Baltimore already signed Austin Reed on Monday, and Lamar Jackson’s move to injured reserve, which the team said would happen, had not appeared in the league’s log by Tuesday evening. Our Ravens injury report has the full quarterback picture.

Other Tuesday moves

Lions and Bengals. Detroit placed rookie linebacker Jimmy Rolder on injured reserve, a move Dan Campbell had previewed when he said Rolder’s hamstring injury would end his season, and waived defensive back Bishop Fitzgerald. Cincinnati placed rookie defensive end Cashius Howell on injured reserve after wrist surgery. Our Lions and Bengals injury report has more.

Falcons and Jaguars. Atlanta placed defensive end Samson Ebukam, who hurt his hamstring in the loss to Tampa Bay, on injured reserve and signed Drake Jackson to the practice squad a day after releasing him. The Falcons play the Cincinnati Bengals in Madrid on Sunday. Jacksonville placed defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton and safety Eric Murray on injured reserve after Sunday’s 42-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts, where Hamilton was carted off with a knee injury.

Waiver results. Along with Estime and Henry, three players waived on Monday cleared waivers and are free agents: Atlanta’s Jared Ivey, Houston’s Jaden Crumedy and New England’s Elliott Davison. The Patriots also activated tackle Marcus Bryant from injured reserve and released cornerback Kindle Vildor. The New York Jets signed tackle Blake Freeland, placed tackle Max Mitchell on injured reserve and released cornerback Tre Brown from injured reserve.

Two extensions. The Indianapolis Colts agreed to a two-year, $35 million extension with defensive lineman Adetomiwa Adebawore, Mike Garafolo reported, and the Colts announced his signing. Adam Schefter reported that the New York Giants and cornerback Greg Newsome agreed to a three-year, $46 million extension that includes $32 million guaranteed. Newsome had signed a one-year deal in free agency.

What comes next

Lamar Jackson’s injured reserve placement and the Ravens’ quarterback plan for Thursday are the biggest open items, and clubs often file a second wave of practice squad moves later in the week. The trade deadline is Tuesday, November 10, at 4 p.m. ET. Check back for Wednesday’s roundup.
