The New England Patriots lost two of Drake Maye’s most important helpers in the second quarter against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, October 11, when left tackle Will Campbell hurt his knee and running back TreVeyon Henderson injured an ankle. The club listed both as questionable to return, but both had gone to the locker room by 2 p.m. EDT.

New England led 14-7 at Gillette Stadium when the two went down. Henderson walked off on his own for further evaluation. Campbell stayed on the turf for a while, and Caleb Lomu, the first-round pick the Patriots drafted in April, came in at left tackle.

The Patriots have not described either injury beyond the body part, and there is no word yet on imaging or a timeline.

Why it matters for New England

Campbell, the fourth overall pick in 2025, was drafted to anchor the blind side for Maye, and losing him on a day the Patriots are facing Maxx Crosby leaves a rookie to handle one of the league’s most dangerous pass rushers. Head coach Mike Vrabel said during the week that his team would need to know where Crosby is on every snap.

The line was already patched together. Right guard Mike Onwenu is sidelined for an extended period with an ankle injury, so Ben Brown was in line to start in his place, and right tackle Morgan Moses was cleared to play despite a foot injury. Campbell also has history with the knee: he was hurt on a run play against Cincinnati in November 2025 and was carted off the field.

Henderson had touched the ball five times before leaving, carrying four times for 22 yards and catching one pass for 16. An ankle problem also kept him out of New England’s first game of the season, and the club has not said whether the same joint is involved this time. Rhamondre Stevenson, who scored on a 5-yard run in the first quarter and is himself managing a knee issue, is the most experienced back left in the Patriots’ rotation.

Game so far

Maye opened the scoring with a 35-yard touchdown pass to DeMario Douglas. Kirk Cousins answered with a 13-yard throw to Brock Bowers, and Stevenson’s run gave New England the lead again before the end of the first quarter. Follow the rest of the afternoon in the Raiders-Patriots Game Center.

What comes next

The Patriots are expected to update both players’ status during the second half and after the game. New England hosts the New York Jets on Sunday, October 18, at 1 p.m. EDT, while Las Vegas returns home to face the Buffalo Bills at 4:25 p.m. EDT that day. Every designation will appear on the injury report page.

The why matters.
