Backfield depth after Barkley, Bigsby injuries
The Philadelphia Eagles signed running back Carson Steele from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, adding backfield depth with Saquon Barkley week-to-week with a hamstring injury and Tank Bigsby on injured reserve.
Steele and Dameon Pierce are expected to rotate behind Will Shipley, who is set to operate as the Eagles’ lead back against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Sunday.
Steele’s path to Philadelphia
Steele, a former UCLA and Ball State back, spent time with Kansas City before joining Philadelphia’s practice squad. The promotion follows a week of roster movement for the Eagles, who released veteran quarterback Andy Dalton and ruled out Barkley and DeVonta Smith for the London game.
