Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton tore his quad in Sunday’s 42-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts and is expected to miss the rest of the season, Ian Rapoport reported on Monday. Hamilton was carted off in the second quarter and was having more tests on Monday.

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers pass rusher YaYa Diaby has a Grade 2 MCL sprain and will miss some time, but head coach Todd Bowles hopes he will not need injured reserve
  • Atlanta Falcons coach Kevin Stefanski ruled out Samson Ebukam and Zachariah Branch for this week with hamstring injuries
  • Cincinnati Bengals rookie Cashius Howell had wrist surgery on Sunday night and is likely headed to injured reserve; DJ Turner and Cedric Johnson are day-to-day
  • New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel had no timeline for tight end Hunter Henry (foot) or receiver A.J. Brown (ankle)
  • Baltimore Ravens backup quarterback Tyler Huntley (turf toe) is out for the foreseeable future, which leaves rookie Joe Fagnano in line to start on Thursday

DaVon Hamilton’s torn quad

Hamilton, in his seventh season, was hurt on a play on which the Colts fumbled a reverse. On Sunday, Jaguars head coach Liam Coen gave no diagnosis but called it “extremely, extremely difficult” and said Hamilton was the one reassuring him while he was down on the field.

The Jaguars, who are 5-2 and lead the AFC South, play at Baltimore on Thursday night. Jacksonville had already been looking for help on the interior of its defensive line before the Nov. 10 trade deadline, and Jeremy Fowler said that need only grows with Hamilton out.

YaYa Diaby: an MCL sprain, but maybe no injured reserve

Diaby left Sunday’s 16-0 win over the Falcons early and had an MRI on Monday morning. Rapoport reported that it showed a Grade 2 MCL sprain and that Diaby should be back within a matter of weeks. Bowles confirmed the MCL sprain and said he was not sure yet how much time Diaby would miss, but he hoped a stint on injured reserve would not be needed.

Tampa Bay plays at Chicago on Sunday night and then has its bye week.

Falcons lose Ebukam and Zachariah Branch for this week

Stefanski said on Monday that edge rusher Samson Ebukam and rookie receiver Zachariah Branch both have hamstring injuries and will not play this week. Branch was ruled out during Sunday’s loss in Tampa.

Bengals: Howell had surgery, two more day-to-day

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said rookie edge rusher Cashius Howell had surgery on his wrist on Sunday night and is likely headed to injured reserve, though nothing is official yet. Cornerback DJ Turner (heel) and defensive end Cedric Johnson (ankle) are day-to-day and will travel to Spain with the team for Sunday’s game in Madrid.

Patriots: Henry and Brown wait, Hollins could return

Vrabel said he had “no expectations yet” for Henry, who could not finish Sunday’s game with a foot injury. Brown did not travel for Sunday’s game because of his ankle, and asked whether Brown would practice this week, Vrabel said, “We’ll see how he progresses.” Vrabel said receiver Mack Hollins and fullback Reggie Gilliam could “potentially” come off injured reserve this week.

Chiefs, Jets and Ravens

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane, who missed Sunday’s game at Denver, has a chance to play against the New York Jets. Reid said the right shoulder could bother Delane all season and called it a day-to-day question of whether he is strong enough to play; Kristian Fulton would start if he cannot. Rapoport also reported that Jets running back Breece Hall, who missed Sunday’s game with a quad injury, is ready to return.

In Baltimore, Rapoport said Huntley is out for the foreseeable future with turf toe. Lamar Jackson needs thumb surgery and is going on injured reserve, so Fagnano, an undrafted rookie, is the only healthy quarterback on the roster with the Jaguars coming on Thursday. Jackson’s injury and the Ravens’ quarterback room are covered here.
