Michigan cornerback Zeke Berry and safety Chris Bracy head Charlie Campbell’s list of 2027 draft risers after Week 8 of the college season, even though the Wolverines lost 13-6 in overtime to Indiana. Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss is the only player on his stock-down list after throwing three interceptions in a 34-27 loss at Texas.
Campbell’s report, published Tuesday, names six players whose stock went up and one whose stock went down. Four of the six risers are players he says could reach the first round, including two offensive tackles in what he calls a weak year for the position.

Zeke Berry’s day against Indiana
Campbell wrote that Michigan’s defense was superb in holding Indiana’s Charlie Becker to three catches for 32 yards and Nick Marsh to two for 25, and that Berry made some huge plays. He stopped quarterback Josh Hoover short of a first down on a third-down scramble to force a field goal, broke up a deep pass to Marsh late in the second quarter with a diving play and, with Michigan down 6-0 late in the third quarter, read Hoover’s eyes from off-man coverage to undercut Marsh for an interception he returned 37 yards to the Indiana 13.
“This tape is going to help Berry a lot with pro evaluators in the months to come,” Campbell wrote. He praised Berry’s sticky coverage on Marsh, his timing in looking back for the ball, his tackling against the run and his special teams play, and wrote that Berry could get late first-round consideration and looks like a second-round pick at the lowest.
Bracy had 13 tackles against the Hoosiers. Campbell wrote that he was very good in zone coverage and made a number of stops coming downhill against the Indiana running backs, after an 81-tackle 2025 season with a forced fumble, an interception and nine passes broken up.
Two tackles in a weak tackle class
Indiana’s Carter Smith is a steady, reliable blocker with enough athleticism and quickness to block on the edge and some strength in the run game, Campbell wrote, though not an overly dominant one. He sees Smith as more of a Day 2 prospect, but wrote that because this is a weak tackle class and Smith plays a premium position, he could rise into late first-round consideration.
Utah’s Zereoue Williams is listed at 6-foot-8 and 305 pounds and is having a breakout season in his first year as a starter, after backing up Spencer Fano and Caleb Lomu in 2025. Campbell wrote that Williams is large at the point of attack, has length and moves well for his size, and that he benefits from 2027 being a weak year for offensive tackles and could be a first-round pick. Utah beat Houston 21-13 on Saturday night.
Jett Jefferson and DeJuan Lane
Mississippi State’s Jett Jefferson has drawn less attention than teammate Kelley Jones, but Campbell wrote that NFL team contacts he spoke with are really high on Jefferson and see him as a complete player. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound corner has 32 tackles, a forced fumble and seven passes batted this season in his first year as a starter, and Campbell wrote that he could go in the first or second round if he enters the draft.
Tennessee safety DeJuan Lane has 36 tackles, two sacks, three interceptions and four passes batted. Campbell wrote that Lane, at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, has shown he can play zone coverage, line up at nickel corner and defend the run, and could be a starting strong safety in the NFL.
Chambliss slides after Texas
Chambliss completed 25 of 52 passes for 250 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions, one of them on a Hail Mary, as Ole Miss lost 34-27 in Austin. Campbell wrote that the tape is not going to help Chambliss’s draft grade: he was 6 of 18 for 63 yards with two interceptions in the first half as Texas, in Campbell’s words, laid a blueprint of keeping him in the pocket.
Those struggles illustrated potential issues in the NFL, Campbell wrote, because defenses will regularly play Chambliss in containment, and improving as a pocket passer is a challenge for a 6-foot quarterback. He still called Chambliss great throwing on the run, with a strong and accurate arm, and superb at ad-libbing his team into big plays, but wrote that he has limitations his pro team will have to account for.
In his mock draft update dated Oct. 25, Campbell still had Chambliss in the first round, at No. 22 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. For another view of the same weekend, see the Week 8 stock report led by Darian Mensah, and for the games we flagged beforehand, our Week 8 prospects to watch.
