Harrison told he will be inactive Sunday
The Arizona Cardinals are finalizing a trade of wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., according to Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport. The team informed Harrison on Saturday morning that he will be inactive for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions while details of the trade are completed.
Arizona had told inquiring teams it wanted first-round value for Harrison, the former No. 4 overall pick, but is now comfortable enough with an offer in hand to hold him out Sunday, Schefter reported. Rapoport cautioned that no trade has been finalized as of Saturday evening.
Texans among the suitors
The Houston Texans have had trade talks with Arizona and are thought to be squarely in the mix for Harrison, Schefter and Rapoport reported. A Texans source told them the team “can’t confirm or deny” its interest. A move to Houston would reunite Harrison with his college quarterback, C.J. Stroud.
The Cardinals have not announced a deal, and the destination and compensation were not immediately known. The reported move comes one day after general manager Monti Ossenfort said Harrison “is a big part of what we’re doing” in response to trade chatter around the former first-round pick.
What it means
Rapoport reported the Cardinals have fielded calls centered on Harrison for the last few weeks. If completed, the trade would be one of the most significant in-season moves of the year. Until the clubs announce terms, the situation remains developing.
