The Cleveland Browns listed 11 players as non-participants on their first injury report of Week 6, the club announced Wednesday, as they began preparing for Sunday’s home game against the Baltimore Ravens. Seventeen Browns were on the report in all, and only one of them practiced fully.
The running back room
Starting running back Quinshon Judkins (ankle) did not practice. Todd Monken has called him day to day after he tweaked the ankle in Sunday’s 17-12 loss to the New York Jets, and he has not been ruled out. Dylan Sampson (knee) was also listed as not participating on the same day his 21-day return window opened. Our Sampson story explains what the window allows.
The depth behind them is thin. Raheim Sanders went on injured reserve with a hip injury on Tuesday, when Cleveland signed Audric Estime off the Minnesota Vikings practice squad. Estime signing. Jaleel McLaughlin and fullback Michael Burton are the other backs on the club’s unofficial depth chart.
Four defensive tackles sit out
All four injured defensive tackles were held out: Mason Graham (knee, ankle), Maliek Collins (foot), Mike Hall Jr. (ankle) and Kalia Davis (quadriceps). Collins and Graham are the starters on the unofficial depth chart, with Hall behind Collins. Graham sprained his MCL and ankle against the Pittsburgh Steelers on October 1 and missed the Jets game. Davis is still on injured reserve, with a practice window that opened on October 6.
Defensive end Derek Barnett (ankle) and linebacker Carson Schwesinger (ankle) also did not practice. Monday, Monken called both Schwesinger and Judkins day to day after they left MetLife Stadium in walking boots. Schwesinger and Judkins update.
Protection questions on offense
Right tackle Tytus Howard (knee), guard Teven Jenkins (back) and rookie tight end Carsen Ryan (calf) did not practice. Howard is the only right tackle on the depth chart, and Jenkins is the backup at right guard behind rookie Austin Barber. Center Elgton Jenkins (knee) was limited.
Receivers Denzel Boston (foot), KC Concepcion (concussion) and Tylan Wallace (knee) were limited, along with safety Grant Delpit (shoulder, knee). Concepcion is still in the concussion protocol after the hit that knocked him out of the Jets game. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel (back) was the only full participant. He is still on injured reserve, in the practice window that opened October 6.
Monken said Wednesday that he is not ruling anyone in or out for Sunday. He said the banged-up group would do walkthrough work in some periods and full-speed reps in others. His comments on facing his former team are in our Monken story.
Baltimore’s side
Lamar Jackson (ankle) did not practice for the Ravens on Wednesday and remains day to day. Rookie receiver Ja’Kobi Lane was a full participant after coming off injured reserve. Ravens report.
The 3-2 Browns host the 4-1 Ravens at Huntington Bank Field on Sunday, October 18, at 1 p.m. EDT, in the club’s annual Crucial Catch game. Thursday’s report is the next checkpoint for Judkins, Graham and Howard.
