Pittsburgh Steelers long snapper Christian Kuntz is the Week 9 NFLPA Community MVP. The Players Association honored the Pittsburgh native for a $10,000 donation that helped open a resource room at Pittsburgh Morrow PreK-8 and for hosting the first Kuntz 4 Ki6s Halloween Bash for local children.

What the honor covers
Adam Schefter reported that Kuntz and his wife, Heather, donated $10,000 so the Morrow resource room can stock food, uniforms and hygiene kits for at-risk kids and families every month. The NFLPA said the room is set up to serve more than 200 students and about 70 families each month with shoes, coats, clothing and more than 10,000 pounds of food. That same week, the Kuntz 4 Ki6s Foundation welcomed 80 children from nine local organizations for costumes, treats and pumpkin decorating.
What the Players Association adds
In recognition of the weekly honor, the NFLPA is donating another $10,000 to the Kuntz 4 Ki6s Foundation. Kuntz also becomes eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, which players vote on at the end of the season. The foundation has raised roughly $230,000 over three years for Pittsburgh-area youth programs, including back-to-school shopping trips with the Homeless Children’s Education Fund.
“I am incredibly honored to be named this week’s NFLPA Community MVP,” Kuntz said in the association’s announcement. “Pittsburgh is home to me, and being able to make a positive impact in the community that I grew up in is extra special. Football has given us this platform, and I believe it’s important to use that to make a difference beyond the field.” The Steelers are on a bye in Week 9.
