The inactive lists for Sunday’s seven early Week 9 games are out, and three of the biggest names on Friday’s reports will not play. Cleveland quarterback Deshaun Watson is inactive at New Orleans even though he cleared the concussion protocol, so Shedeur Sanders makes his first start of the season. New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo (hamstring) is inactive at Philadelphia, and Dallas is without receiver George Pickens, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown at Indianapolis. Detroit receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (ribs) is active at Miami, and Myles Garrett is not on the Rams’ inactive list in Washington.

  • Inactive: Watson (Browns), Skattebo (Giants), Pickens, Porter and Overshown (Cowboys), Garrett Wilson (Jets), DeVonta Smith (Eagles), Jaylen Wright (Dolphins), Jaelan Phillips (Panthers) and Talanoa Hufanga (Broncos)
  • Active: St. Brown, Breece Hall, Jake Ferguson, Jordyn Tyson, Kelvin Banks Jr. and Ja’Tavion Sanders, plus Garrett for the Rams
  • Minnesota is signing Odell Beckham Jr. from its practice squad to the 53-man roster before Monday night against Buffalo
  • In Madrid, Cincinnati beat Atlanta 34-17. Falcons receiver Olamide Zaccheaus was checked for a possible concussion and came back into the game
  • The early games kicked off at 1 p.m. ET, which is 8 p.m. in Cairo

Browns at Saints: Watson sits, Tyson and Banks play

Watson cleared the concussion protocol this week but practiced only once, and Cleveland made him inactive, with Taylen Green as the emergency third quarterback. Sanders starts at quarterback, as he discussed this week. The Browns’ other inactives are linebacker Justin Jefferson, cornerback Noah Igbinoghene, center Parker Brailsford and defensive tackle Maliek Collins (elbow).

For New Orleans, rookie receiver Jordyn Tyson and left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. are both active. The Saints’ inactives are quarterback Zach Wilson, safety Mike Reid, running back CJ Donaldson, defensive linemen Christen Miller and John Ridgeway III, linebacker Jaylan Ford and tackle Mason Murphy.

Cowboys at Colts: Pickens, Porter and Overshown are out

Dallas will play without three starters. Pickens (shoulder, hamstring) misses his first game of the season, and Porter (ankle) and Overshown (back, hamstring) are also inactive. Receiver KaVontae Turpin (rib), tight end Luke Schoonmaker (groin), outside linebacker Tyrus Wheat and lineman Ajani Cornelius round out the list. Tight end Jake Ferguson is active.

Indianapolis had already ruled out cornerback Justin Walley and linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither, as Shane Steichen said Friday, and safety AJ Haulcy is out too. Tight ends Pharaoh Brown and Will Mallory, tackle Charlie Heck and emergency third quarterback Riley Leonard are also inactive.

Giants at Eagles: No Skattebo, no DeVonta Smith

Skattebo has been dealing with a hamstring injury, and Devin Singletary is expected to lead the backfield. Cornerbacks Colton Hood and Nikko Reed, linemen Marcus Mbow and Josh Sills, tight end Thomas Fidone II and defensive lineman C.J. Okoye are also inactive.

Philadelphia, with Joe Milton making his first NFL start, is without receivers DeVonta Smith (hamstring), Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) and Britain Covey (knee), linebacker Jihaad Campbell (hamstring, quad), defensive back Michael Carter II (abdomen) and cornerback Jonathan Jones (ankle).

Lions at Dolphins: St. Brown is active

St. Brown was limited all week with a rib injury and was listed as questionable, and he is active. Detroit’s inactives are edge rushers Ahmed Hassanein and DJ Wonnum, center Cade Mays, tight end Jackson Meeks, cornerback D.J. Reed, running back Jacob Saylors and defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo. Miami is without running back Jaylen Wright (quad), receiver Jalen Tolbert, cornerbacks Marcellas Dial Jr. and Reese Taylor, guard Christian Haynes, tackle Chukwuebuka Godrick and tight end Justin Joly.

The other early games

  • Jets at Chiefs: Garrett Wilson, who was ruled out Friday, is inactive with receiver Tim Patrick, cornerback Nahshon Wright, edge rusher Joseph Ossai, linebacker Trevin Wallace, guard Kohl Levao and tackle Blake Freeland, which leaves the Jets with four receivers. Breece Hall is active. Kansas City is without its two first-round rookies, cornerback Mansoor Delane and defensive lineman Peter Woods, plus Ben VanSumeren, Jack Pyburn, Diego Pounds and third quarterback Garrett Nussmeier
  • Rams at Commanders: Garrett is not on the Rams’ list, a day after his activation from injured reserve. Cornerback Trent McDuffie, long snapper Joe Cardona, outside linebackers Darryl Peterson III and Desjuan Johnson, linemen Bill Murray and Keagen Trost and third quarterback Ty Simpson are inactive. Washington is without receiver Treylon Burks, cornerbacks Fabian Moreau and Isaac Yiadom, guard Tanoa Togiai and third quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis
  • Broncos at Panthers: Safety Talanoa Hufanga (ankle) misses a fourth straight game, and cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine (ankle) and safety Brandon Jones (hamstring) are also out. Outside linebacker Dondrea Tillman (groin) was questionable and will play. Carolina is without Jaelan Phillips, cornerback Will Lee III, linebacker Bobby Okereke and guard Damien Lewis, and tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders is active for the first time this season

Vikings sign Odell Beckham Jr. before Monday night

With Jauan Jennings and Demond Claiborne ruled out for Monday night alongside Kyler Murray, Minnesota is signing Beckham from its practice squad to the 53-man roster. Beckham, 34, joined the practice squad on October 7. Kevin O’Connell had named him, Jeshaun Jones and Dillon Bell as the candidates for a receiver call-up. Safeties Theo Jackson (quad) and Jay Ward (knee) are still questionable for the game against Buffalo.

Madrid: Zaccheaus checked for a concussion, then returns

Cincinnati beat Atlanta 34-17 at the Bernabéu. Zaccheaus was slow to get up after a return in the third quarter and walked into the medical tent, and the Falcons called him questionable to return while he was checked for a possible concussion. He was back on the field a few minutes later. Safety Billy Bowman Jr., who was cleared earlier in the week, was inactive for Atlanta along with receiver Zachariah Branch, Jack Strand, Robert Longerbeam, Drake Jackson and third quarterback Andy Dalton. Cincinnati played without safety Kyle Dugger, center Connor Lew, tackle Myles Hinton and defensive tackle Landon Robinson.
