The Houston Texans activated rookie defensive tackle Kayden McDonald from injured reserve and veteran safety M.J. Stewart from the reserve/PUP list on Saturday, the team announced. Both are available for Week 5.
McDonald, a second-round pick out of Ohio State, had his NFL debut delayed by an ankle sprain. He started 14 games in his final college season, finishing with three sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss, and returned to practice at the first opportunity, per Pro Football Rumors. Houston’s defense has underwhelmed so far this season but ranks fourth in rushing yards allowed per game.
To make room on the 53-man roster, the Texans waived quarterback Mark Gronowski and wide receiver Bryce Oliver.
