No halftime act yet for the February 14 game at SoFi Stadium: the DWTS Super Bowl Night episode passed without a reveal, and this cycle is now later than every September announcement since 2019.

Super Bowl LXI is 122 days away and the league still has not named its halftime headliner. As of Thursday, October 15, neither the NFL, Apple Music nor Roc Nation has made an announcement for the February 14, 2027 show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, which makes this the latest reveal in the 2020s except for one pandemic-year season.

The wait sharpened this week. A Super Bowl Night episode of “Dancing with the Stars” aired on Tuesday, October 13, with Joe Buck as a guest judge, and because Disney’s networks carry Super Bowl LXI, fans online treated it as a likely reveal spot. The episode ended without a halftime announcement.

How late is this year’s reveal?

Recent headliners have almost all been announced in September, between roughly four and five months before kickoff. The only 2020s outlier was The Weeknd, named in November 2020 for a Super Bowl played under COVID-19 restrictions. Here is how the last seven reveals lined up against game day:

GameHeadlinerAnnouncedDays before kickoff
Super Bowl LX (2026)Bad BunnySept. 28, 2025133
Super Bowl LIX (2025)Kendrick LamarSept. 8, 2024154
Super Bowl LVIII (2024)UsherSept. 24, 2023140
Super Bowl LVII (2023)RihannaSept. 25, 2022140
Super Bowl LVI (2022)Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and othersSept. 30, 2021136
Super Bowl LV (2021)The WeekndNov. 12, 202087
Super Bowl LIV (2020)Shakira and Jennifer LopezSept. 26, 2019129

With 122 days to go, this cycle is already past every September reveal on that list. Bad Bunny’s announcement came 133 days before Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, and the tightest non-pandemic gap in the table is Shakira and Jennifer Lopez at 129 days before Super Bowl LIV in Miami.

Who picks the headliner

Jay-Z’s Roc Nation has advised the league on its music and entertainment programming, halftime included, since a partnership announced in 2019, and every halftime show starting with Shakira and Jennifer Lopez in February 2020 has come through that arrangement. Apple Music took over as the show’s title sponsor beginning with Rihanna’s performance at Super Bowl LVII, after Pepsi’s run ended with the February 2022 show in Inglewood.

That leaves three partners to coordinate on timing, the NFL, Roc Nation and Apple Music, with Disney as this season’s Super Bowl broadcaster. No announcement date has been scheduled publicly.

What is rumor and what is confirmed

Confirmed: Super Bowl LXI is Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium, it airs on Disney’s networks, and the halftime show will again carry the Apple Music name. Not confirmed: the performer. Names circulating online include Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Harry Styles and Jay-Z himself; Cyrus fed the chatter with an October 12 Instagram post captioned “PM training for the Bowl,” which she tied to her Hollywood Bowl concerts on October 16 and 18. None of those names has been confirmed by the league or its partners.

WhyNFL will update the Super Bowl LXI hub as soon as the NFL, Apple Music or Roc Nation names the act. The video above is the full Super Bowl LX halftime show from February 2026, the last performance to come through the same partnership.

The why matters.
