Two Week 9 power rankings landed Tuesday after the Bears beat the Seahawks 34-17 on Monday night. Pete Prisco and Ralph Vacchiano agree on the top of the board more than the middle: both start with Buffalo, both have Chicago fourth, and both put the 0-7 Chargers last. The biggest gap is Tampa Bay, which is eight spots apart.

Below is how the two ranked every team, with each writer’s movement from last week where we have it.

Where the two lists agree

Buffalo is No. 1 on both lists, at 6-1. San Francisco is second for Prisco and third for Vacchiano, and the Bears are fourth on both. Chicago is up four from eighth for Prisco and up two from sixth for Vacchiano after the Seattle win, in which Jeffery Simmons made his debut after the trade. The Bears’ 34 points were the most the Seahawks have allowed this season.

Raiders4-424177
Jets2-625316

Tampa Bay is the widest split. Prisco has the 3-5 Buccaneers 16th and Vacchiano has them 24th, and Las Vegas goes the other way: the 4-4 Raiders are 17th for Vacchiano and 24th for Prisco. The Jets are 25th for Prisco and 31st for Vacchiano at 2-6, and Houston is 23rd for Prisco and 19th for Vacchiano at 2-5.

Prisco moves the Steelers up to 10th after their 27-6 win over the Browns, which put them at 6-2, and notes they have a bye before they visit Cincinnati. Vacchiano has them 13th. Prisco also has Jacksonville third, up six, and Minnesota sixth, down five after the loss at Detroit; Vacchiano has the Jaguars seventh and the Vikings sixth.

Seattle fell on both lists. Prisco drops the 4-4 Seahawks eight spots, from sixth to 14th, and Vacchiano drops them four, from seventh to 11th. Denver is fifth for Prisco and second for Vacchiano, who moved the Broncos up from fourth.

Movement is shown only where last week’s rank was available to us. Vacchiano’s Week 8 ranks for the Chiefs and Vikings were not available, and Prisco’s were limited to the top nine of his Week 8 list, so those cells say n/a.

The bottom of the board

Prisco calls the Chargers his “No. 1 disaster” at 0-7, and Vacchiano has them last as well. The Titans (1-7) are 31st for Prisco and 29th for Vacchiano, while the Dolphins (1-6) are 29th for Prisco and 30th for Vacchiano. Philadelphia is 28th for Prisco and 27th for Vacchiano at 2-6.

For how this fits with the field, see our Week 8 consensus roundup and the Bears-Seahawks recap. A Week 9 consensus will follow once more writers publish.
