Mack Hollins may be unable to practice for a couple of days after leaving New England’s October 4 game, coach Mike Vrabel said Monday. Vrabel cautioned that he did not yet have every detail and planned to speak with the medical staff.

No game-status decision yet

That leaves Hollins’ next-game availability unsettled. A possible practice absence is not an announcement that he will miss the game, and Vrabel did not provide a return date.

Receiver options remain open

Asked about adding help with A.J. Brown out and Hollins hurt, Vrabel said the Patriots would explore their options. He did not announce a signing.

Vrabel also indicated Efton Chism III’s performance could earn more opportunities. That offers an internal option while the team assesses its receiver group, without establishing a permanent replacement.

The why matters.
