All three of New York's questionable players are inactive for Sunday's AFC East game, leaving Braelon Allen to lead the backfield against winless Miami.

Breece Hall will not play for the New York Jets against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The running back, listed as questionable with a quadriceps injury, is one of seven players the Jets declared inactive about 90 minutes before the 1 p.m. EDT kickoff at MetLife Stadium.

Hall was not the only game-time decision to go against New York. Every Jet who carried a questionable tag into the weekend is sitting out: guard Dylan Parham, who was limited all week with a knee injury, and running back Kene Nwangwu, who missed two practices with a knee problem before a full session on Friday. Edge rusher Joseph Ossai (ankle) and offensive lineman Max Mitchell (concussion), both ruled out on Friday, are on the list as expected, along with cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and defensive lineman Jack Heflin.

What Hall’s absence means

Hall has been managing the quadriceps problem since late September. He sat out Wednesday’s practice and was limited on Thursday and Friday, which pushed the call to game day. Without him, Braelon Allen again leads the backfield; Allen carried 17 times for 78 yards in last Sunday’s 26-19 loss at New England. With Nwangwu also down, the Jets will lean on Allen even more heavily.

Parham’s absence matters up front as well. Offensive coordinator Frank Reich took the blame this week for the short-yardage, third-down and red-zone struggles that left the Jets without a touchdown on three red-zone trips in Foxborough, and New York now tries to fix them without Parham or its lead back.

There is better news at receiver. Adonai Mitchell, who missed four games with a finger injury, is active, so Geno Smith has Mitchell, Garrett Wilson and rookie Omar Cooper Jr. together.

Miami’s inactives

The Dolphins, still looking for their first win, had ruled out defensive back Reese Taylor and listed edge rusher Rob Beal Jr. as doubtful; both are inactive. Linebacker Willie Gay Jr., questionable after an illness kept him out of Thursday’s practice, is inactive too, as are receiver Jalen Tolbert, cornerback Marcellas Dial Jr., guard DJ Campbell and tackle Chukwuebuka Godrick. Quarterback Malik Willis, who practiced fully all week despite a right thumb issue, is active.

What comes next

The 2-4 Jets host the Dolphins at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday, October 25; follow it in the Dolphins-Jets Game Center. New York stays home to face the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, November 1, at 1 p.m. EST, while Miami hosts the New England Patriots that afternoon at 4:25 p.m. EST. Every club’s latest status is on the injury report.

The why matters.
