The Jacksonville Jaguars are signing veteran long snapper Jacob Bobenmoyer to cover for the injured Ross Matiscik, Ian Rapoport reported on Monday, October 12, which ends defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton’s emergency turn at the position after one memorable afternoon in London.
Rapoport reported that Bobenmoyer has already flown to England, where the Jaguars are staying between their two international games, and that Matiscik will not go on injured reserve. The club had not announced the signing at the time of publication.
Long snapper news: The #Jaguars are signing NFL veteran LS Jacob Bobenmoyer as their new long snapper, which means DT DaVon Hamilton can return to his day job. He’s already flown to London.

Bobenmoyer, 29, brings six seasons of experience to the job: three with the Denver Broncos and the last three with the Las Vegas Raiders. His arrival lets Jacksonville keep Hamilton, a veteran of the defensive line, focused on his own position for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.
A nose tackle on the winning kick
Matiscik, an All-Pro whose June extension made him the best-paid player at his position anywhere in the NFL, hurt his shoulder early in Sunday’s 19-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Head coach Liam Coen said after the game that a replacement would be sent over from the United States.
Hamilton had never snapped in a game and had barely practiced it, but he handled the job for the rest of the afternoon. One poor snap contributed to Cam Little’s missed extra point after Parker Washington’s 27-yard touchdown catch with 3:20 left, which kept the Jaguars’ lead at 16-14. When it mattered most, Hamilton’s snap was clean: Little hit from 57 yards as time expired, eight seconds after Jake Elliott’s 48-yarder had put Philadelphia in front.
Hamilton took the assignment in stride and said afterward that he had no wish to keep it, telling reporters he hoped he would not have to do it again this week. Punter Logan Cooke and Little both backed him through the game.
What comes next
The Jaguars (4-1) face the Texans at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, October 18, at 9:30 a.m. EDT; the Game Center has the matchup. Houston (1-4) could have newly acquired receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. available if his physical is completed. Every roster move appears on our transactions page.
