The Washington Commanders will play Monday night in San Francisco without backup quarterback Marcus Mariota, running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt and two pass rushers, and with receiver Stefon Diggs listed as questionable on the final injury report of the week.
Mariota (knee), Croskey-Merritt (groin), defensive end Charles Omenihu (groin, ankle) and linebacker Javontae Jean-Baptiste (pectoral) are out. None of the four practiced at any point in the build-up to the game. Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed on Saturday that Croskey-Merritt would not play.
The better news for Washington sits at the top of the depth chart. Jayden Daniels, back since Week 5 after two games out with a dislocated left elbow, took part fully in every session and has no designation. Terry McLaurin also carries none, even though he was held out on Friday for a mix of rest and a hamstring issue.

Who did not practice, who was limited
Nine players are questionable. Diggs (hamstring) is the headliner: he sat out Thursday, was a limited participant on Friday and Saturday, and has not played since missing the tie with the Giants. Defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw (ankle, knee) went the other way, practicing fully on Thursday before missing Friday and finishing limited.
Three more players are nursing hamstrings: safeties Percy Butler and Tyler Owens and linebacker Jordan Magee were all limited at the end of the week. Butler and Owens had not practiced on Thursday. The other four questionable players finished with full sessions: running back Jeremy McNichols (quadriceps), cornerback Trey Amos (ankle), guard Lucas Patrick (illness) and safety Nick Cross (illness).
Running backs Austin Ekeler (chest) and Rachaad White (shoulder), receiver Treylon Burks (shoulder) and outside linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson, who was rested on Friday, finished the week without a game designation.
What it means against San Francisco
With Mariota out, rookie seventh-round pick Athan Kaliakmanis is in line to back up Daniels again. In the backfield, Croskey-Merritt’s absence leaves the carries to Ekeler, White and, if he is cleared, McNichols.
On defense, Washington goes into the game without two edge players and with three safeties listed as questionable, against an unbeaten 49ers team that has its own gaps. San Francisco has already ruled out Nick Bosa and Deebo Samuel Sr., and Mike Evans is questionable. The full list for both teams is on the NFL injury report page.
What comes next
The Commanders, 1-3-1, kick off at Levi’s Stadium on Monday, October 19, at 8:15 p.m. EDT. The Game Center follows the game live. Washington then has its bye before hosting the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night, November 1.
