Jonathan Taylor ran for 95 yards and two touchdowns as the Indianapolis Colts beat the Washington Commanders 30–13 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Sunday, October 4. Indianapolis improved to 2–2, while Washington fell to 1–3.

The Colts recovered from an early six-point deficit and two first-half turnovers. Taylor supplied their first two touchdowns, Daniel Jones added a fourth-quarter scoring run, and Spencer Shrader made three field goals.

Two short Taylor runs changed the game

Washington opened with field goals of 31 and 29 yards by Drew Stevens. Taylor’s first touchdown, a five-yard run in the second quarter, put Indianapolis ahead 7–6. Shrader’s kick at the end of the half extended that advantage to 10–6.

Linebacker Jaylon Carlies intercepted Athan Kaliakmanis early in the third quarter for the first interception of his NFL career. Indianapolis used the short field, with Taylor finishing another drive from five yards out to make it 17–6.

Taylor finished with 20 carries. His work on the ground gave Indianapolis a dependable route to points on a day when Jones completed 19 of 34 passes for 143 yards, with one interception and no passing touchdowns.

Washington’s long touchdown was its last scoring answer

Kaliakmanis found Treylon Burks for a 47-yard touchdown in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 17–13. Indianapolis then scored the game’s final 13 points.

Shrader hit from 52 yards to restore a seven-point lead. Jones followed with a four-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, and Shrader’s 44-yard field goal completed the scoring.

Laquon Treadwell led the Colts with 42 receiving yards on five catches. Tyler Warren also caught five passes, gaining 41 yards. Indianapolis’s three touchdowns all came on the ground.

A rookie quarterback finished for Washington

The Commanders started Marcus Mariota because Jayden Daniels was out with an elbow injury. Mariota left with a knee injury, bringing seventh-round rookie Kaliakmanis into the game.

Kaliakmanis completed 15 of 33 passes for 186 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Dyami Brown gained 65 yards on three receptions, including a 48-yard catch, but Washington could not turn its other possessions into enough points to keep pace.

Mariota’s availability for the following week remained undetermined after the game. Washington also lost defensive end Charles Omenihu to a groin injury. Those absences added to the cost of a defeat in which the team was penalized 10 times.

Indianapolis returns to .500

The result gave the Colts a third consecutive win in an international game, following victories in Frankfurt in 2023 and Berlin in 2025. Their next game is at Pittsburgh on October 11.

For Indianapolis, the decisive sequence came after Washington pulled within four: a field goal, a rushing touchdown and another field goal closed the game without another Commanders score.

The why matters.
