Updated October 9, 2026: Cleveland has ruled out Dillon Gabriel and Kalia Davis for its Week 5 game against the Jets.

Earlier updates

Updated October 8, 1:43 a.m. EDT: Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice with a back injury, while defensive tackle Kalia Davis was limited with a quadriceps injury. Their October 7 participation listings follow Tuesday’s return-to-practice announcement; neither listing by itself confirms activation or Sunday availability.

The Cleveland Browns listed quarterback Dillon Gabriel and defensive tackle Kalia Davis as eligible to return to practice in an October 6 announcement that also announced five practice-squad moves.

From eligibility to practice

Davis was designated for return. Gabriel had already received that designation on August 30. Tuesday’s announcement established their practice eligibility. Wednesday’s injury report adds their participation levels, but it does not announce an active-roster return or a final game-day decision.

Two signings and three releases

  • Signed: wide receiver James Proche II and defensive tackle Chris Williams.
  • Released: running back Eric Gray, punter Wes Pahl and tackle Xavier Truss.

Proche has played 71 NFL games, including 19 with Cleveland, and will wear No. 80. Williams has appeared in 44 NFL games and previously spent time on the Browns’ practice squad in 2023 and earlier this season. He will wear No. 61.
