Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo say Philadelphia has no plans to break up the roster before the November 10 deadline, even after falling to 2-3 in London.

The Philadelphia Eagles do not intend to tear down their roster before the November 10 trade deadline, Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported on Sunday morning, hours before a 19-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London dropped the club to 2-3.

The question has hung over the franchise for a week. Right tackle Lane Johnson retired after the Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Baltimore acquired center Cam Jurgens in a trade that same week, and the defeat at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was Philadelphia’s third in a row.

What the insiders reported

Rapoport said people involved with the Eagles flatly rejected the idea of a sell-off. In his account, the front office still believes it can compete this season, pointing to the defense, Jalen Hurts and the team’s skill-position talent. He added that rival general managers have asked whether Saquon Barkley might be available, but moving him would contradict that win-now approach. Garafolo delivered the same message on the pregame show.

Adam Schefter reported earlier that Philadelphia is not giving up on the season, while noting that some of his league sources would not be surprised if general manager Howie Roseman listened to offers for guard Landon Dickerson once he is activated from injured reserve. None of these reports has been confirmed by the team, and no offer for any Eagles player has been made public.

The Jurgens trade and the ammunition it created

In the Jurgens deal, Philadelphia sent the center and a 2027 seventh-round pick to Baltimore for a 2027 fifth-rounder and a 2028 second-rounder. Schefter noted that the second-round choice gives Roseman a chip he could spend on short-term help, or keep. The Eagles also intend to leave Johnson on the 53-man roster through the season to manage his salary-cap charge.

Sunday’s game showed why help may be needed. Barkley, DeVonta Smith, Hollywood Brown and Jonathan Greenard were all inactive, and Will Shipley, Jalyx Hunt and Michael Carter II were ruled out during the game. Philadelphia ran for 22 yards on 18 carries and was outgained 408 to 232, and Jake Elliott’s go-ahead 48-yard field goal with eight seconds left was erased by Cam Little’s 57-yarder at the gun. The full box score is in the Eagles-Jaguars Game Center.

What comes next

The Eagles host the Carolina Panthers at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, October 18, at 1 p.m. EDT. The trade deadline falls at 4 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, November 10, and every completed move will be listed on the transactions page.
