Reading this profile
The details below are dated roster facts. Roster status, practice participation, and game-day availability are different; this profile does not turn one into another.
Career path: LSU breakthrough to Minnesota centerpiece
Jefferson’s rise at LSU came in stages. In 2018 he led the Tigers with 54 catches, 875 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions. A year later, he caught 111 passes for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns as LSU won the national championship. That change matters when reading his development: a productive college starter became a high-volume target in a championship passing attack. Sources: LSU’s Jefferson biography and Minnesota’s draft report.
The Vikings selected him 22nd overall in 2020 with a pick acquired in the Stefon Diggs trade. He moved into the starting lineup in Week 3 and finished his rookie regular season with 88 receptions, 1,400 yards and seven receiving touchdowns. Minnesota’s 2020 receiver review specifically notes that he answered questions about playing outside at NFL level. His early success therefore involved adapting his college production to different alignments, as well as earning more opportunities.
The season that established his league-wide standing
His fourth-and-18 catch against Buffalo was one memorable play within a much larger season. The Vikings’ award account also records his first AP first-team All-Pro selection. He returned to that first team after the 2024 season, when he had 103 catches for 1,533 yards and 10 touchdowns, according to his official team biography.
What to watch beyond the receiving total
Those milestones suggest two useful viewing questions: where does Jefferson begin the play, and what coverage follows him? Compare an outside release with a route starting nearer the formation, then watch whether a safety joins the cornerback. This is a way to study how an offense creates access to its leading receiver, rather than a claim that every play uses the same coverage. Follow the Vikings team page for the wider offense and use the season-by-season panel below to keep historical achievements separate from the current schedule.

Regular-season records. Totals use each recorded season once, even when team splits and a combined row are both shown. Rates are recalculated from the counted totals. A dash means a value is missing or cannot be calculated reliably; these records do not establish complete career coverage.
