Game recap

The Minnesota Vikings erased a 22–10 deficit with 29 unanswered points to beat the Green Bay Packers 39–22 at U.S. Bank Stadium on September 13, 2026. Carson Wentz threw three touchdown passes after Kyler Murray left with a first-quarter concussion. Minnesota’s comeback accelerated when Green Bay failed on fourth down and then lost the ball on consecutive possessions.

Green Bay’s yardage did not secure the game

Jordan Love threw for 387 yards, including touchdown passes of 81 and two yards to Christian Watson. Watson finished with six catches for 147 yards, and Matthew Golden added six for 95. Green Bay led 19–10 at halftime and extended that advantage with a field goal midway through the third quarter.

Myles Price’s 68-yard kickoff return gave Minnesota an immediate opening. Wentz finished the short-field opportunity with a 16-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Hockenson, reducing Green Bay’s lead to 22–17 with 2:08 left in the third.

A fourth-down stop opened the comeback

Early in the fourth quarter, an offside penalty on Dallas Turner erased a made Trey Smack field goal and gave the Packers the option of fourth-and-one. They chose to keep the offense on the field. Domonique Orange stopped Love for no gain at the Minnesota 17, handing possession to the Vikings with the deficit still five points.

Minnesota’s ensuing drive covered 83 yards and consumed 6:34. Three Green Bay penalties on third down sustained it, including Xavier McKinney’s defensive holding, which wiped out an Evan Williams interception. Aaron Jones Sr. finished with a three-yard touchdown run, and Wentz found Justin Jefferson for the two-point conversion. The Vikings led 25–22 with 6:37 remaining.

Two takeaways turned a lead into a clear win

Andrew Van Ginkel and Blake Cashman combined for a sack on the Packers’ next possession. Van Ginkel forced and recovered Love’s fumble, returning it to the Green Bay one. Jordan Mason scored from there. James Pierre then intercepted Love and returned the ball 28 yards to the Packers’ 14, setting up Wentz’s nine-yard touchdown to Jefferson.

Wentz finished 12 of 19 for 133 yards with no interceptions. Jefferson caught eight passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Minnesota gained only 239 yards to Green Bay’s 419, but finished all four red-zone trips with touchdowns; the Packers managed one in four and committed 12 penalties for 98 yards. Those missed opportunities, followed by the two late turnovers, explain how a game Green Bay had controlled became a 17-point divisional loss.
