The New England Patriots signed running back Hassan Haskins and cornerback D’Shawn Jamison to the practice squad on Tuesday and released linebacker Jose Ramirez from the practice squad, the team announced.
Haskins returns
Haskins, 26, first signed with New England on August 12 and began the season on the practice squad before his release in mid-September. The 6-foot-2, 228-pound back was a fourth-round pick by the Tennessee Titans out of Michigan in 2022 and spent the past two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers after they claimed him off waivers. In 44 regular-season games with one start, he has 76 carries for 229 yards and two touchdowns, 18 receptions with a receiving score and 28 kickoff returns for 646 yards.
The move comes with TreVeyon Henderson reported to have suffered a high ankle sprain in the Week 5 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Jamison adds cornerback depth
Jamison, 27, is a 5-foot-9, 185-pound cornerback who went undrafted out of Texas in 2023. He has had stops with the San Francisco 49ers, Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers, and played 15 games for Carolina after being claimed off waivers as a rookie. He spent the first month of this season on the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad. He joins Al’Zillion Hamilton as the second cornerback on New England’s practice squad after Kindle Vildor was promoted to the 53 on October 10, and the Patriots were missing four cornerbacks against Las Vegas.
Ramirez out again
Ramirez, 27, a sixth-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023 out of Eastern Michigan, joined New England’s practice squad on September 1 and was promoted on September 23. He played two games on defense and special teams before being released on October 6, then rejoined the practice squad on October 8. The Patriots face the New York Jets on Sunday.
