Micah Parsons is not expected to return to practice this week, Adam Schefter reported Monday, a timeline that would keep the Packers’ top pass rusher off the field when the Dallas Cowboys visit Lambeau Field on Sunday night.
The Packers have not said anything official about Parsons since last week. Schefter reported that the club still does not know exactly when the edge rusher will be ready, but that Green Bay is hopeful he can make it back at some point in October.

Why the practice window matters
Parsons is on the reserve/physically unable to perform list as he works back from the torn ACL he suffered late last season. A player on that list cannot simply be activated for a game. His team first has to open a 21-day practice window, and the Packers have not taken that step.
If the window does not open this week, there is no route for Parsons to be in uniform on Sunday. Head coach Matt LaFleur said on Monday, October 5, that Parsons would not practice that week either, and he sat out the 31-7 win over the Chicago Bears.
The rehab itself has not hit a setback, according to reporting from earlier this month. On October 3, Tom Pelissero reported that Parsons might not see game action until November. Monday’s report leaves room for an October return, but no date has been set, and the Packers have not ruled anything in or out.
A missed reunion with Dallas
The timing stings for the Sunday night matchup. Dallas is the team Parsons began his career with before Green Bay acquired him, and the game had been circled as his first meeting with the Cowboys. It now looks likely to come and go without him.
Green Bay has held up without him so far. The Packers are 3-2 after a dominant Sunday at home, where they forced five turnovers against the Bears. Their pass rush will be tested again by a Dallas offense that arrives after a 24-16 home loss to Tampa Bay on Thursday night, October 9.
What remains unconfirmed: the team has not announced when Parsons’ window will open, and neither the club nor the player has given a target date for his first game.
What comes next
The Cowboys visit the Packers on Sunday, October 18, at 8:20 p.m. EDT. Green Bay then travels to Detroit on Sunday, October 25. The first official word on Parsons will come from the Packers’ practice reports, which begin Wednesday. Follow every designation on the WhyNFL injury report.
