Buffalo Bills head coach Joe Brady met reporters on Saturday after practice and delivered the club’s final Week 9 injury picture before Monday night’s road game at the Minnesota Vikings. Wide receiver Joshua Palmer is out with a hamstring injury. Left tackle Dion Dawkins (ribs), left guard Alec Anderson (ankle), defensive lineman Greg Gaines (calf), defensive back Jordan Hancock (hamstring) and wide receiver Tyrell Shavers (knee) are listed as questionable. “Joshua Palmer will be the only one that’s out,” Brady said. “Dion Dawkins, Alec Anderson, Greg Gaines, Jordan Hancock, Tyrell Shavers, they will all be questionable.”
Dawkins’ ribs and practice without the left tackle
Dawkins has not practiced this week after playing through rib pain in Thursday’s win over the Ravens, but Brady said a veteran at that position does not always need a full week of work to be ready. “There’s certain positions that have played enough football that I believe they can go out there and do their job, certain people that can do their job without the practice,” Brady said. He added that he had the same trust last week with right tackle Spencer Brown, who is practicing and carries no designation for Monday. If Dawkins cannot go, third-year tackle Tylan Grable — who filled in for Brown last week — is the likely option on the left side.
Anderson returns; Palmer not headed to IR
Anderson returned to practice Saturday after missing Thursday and Friday with an ankle injury. Backup guard Austin Corbett would be next up if Anderson is unavailable. Palmer did not practice all week after leaving the Ravens game, and Brady said the receiver is not a candidate for injured reserve right now. Hancock’s 21-day practice window is open after a limited week; Shavers has been a full participant — either would need to be activated from injured reserve by Monday afternoon to play. Wide receivers DJ Moore and Keon Coleman, tight end Dalton Kincaid and Khalil Shakir (back after a personal absence Friday) carry no designations.
Facing Minnesota’s pressure
Brady framed Monday as a challenge without turning it into a measuring-stick week, stressing the same standard regardless of opponent. He also pointed to the running backs’ pass-protection role against a Vikings defense that blitzes at a high rate, saying the group must clean up technique after a low-block penalty last week. Kickoff at U.S. Bank Stadium is 8:15 p.m. ET Monday, which is 3:15 a.m. Cairo Tuesday.
