49ers beat Raiders 23–20 in 2002 Week 9

The San Francisco 49ers beat the Oakland Raiders 23–20 on the road at Network Associates Coliseum in overtime in Week 9 of the 2002 regular season on November 3, 2002. It was decided by 3 points, a field goal or less.

It was the only game of Week 9 to need overtime.

The result moved the 49ers to 6–2 and dropped the Raiders to 4–4. It was the Raiders’ fourth straight loss. The 49ers finished 2002 at 10–6 and lost in the Divisional round. The Raiders finished 2002 at 11–5 and lost Super Bowl XXXVII.

In their previous meeting, the Oakland Raiders won 34–28 on October 8, 2000. When they met again, the San Francisco 49ers won 34–20 on October 8, 2006.
