Colts beat Patriots 38–34 in the AFC Championship Game

The Indianapolis Colts beat the New England Patriots 38–34 at home at RCA Dome in the AFC Championship Game of the 2006 playoffs on January 21, 2007. It was a one-score game at the finish, decided by 4 points.

The 72 combined points were the most in any game of the 2006 playoffs.

The Patriots went 12–4 in the regular season and the Colts went 12–4. The Colts had already beaten the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card round and the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional round. The Colts went on to win Super Bowl XLI, beating the Chicago Bears 29–17. The loss ended the Patriots’ season.

In their previous meeting, the Indianapolis Colts won 27–20 on November 5, 2006. When they met again, the New England Patriots won 24–20 on November 4, 2007.
