Most of this week’s 2027 draft boards have pushed Oklahoma State’s Drew Mestemaker to the front of the quarterback class. Dan Treacy’s updated quarterback rankings after the sixth week of the college season go the other way. Oregon’s Dante Moore stays at No. 1 even though he has missed time with a concussion, and Mestemaker comes in sixth.

The bigger move is at the top. Notre Dame’s CJ Carr climbs one spot to No. 2, and Texas’ Arch Manning drops one spot to No. 3 after his fourth-quarter collapse in the Red River Rivalry loss to Oklahoma.

The top 12

  1. Dante Moore, Oregon
  2. CJ Carr, Notre Dame (up 1)
  3. Arch Manning, Texas (down 1)
  4. Darian Mensah, Miami
  5. Julian Sayin, Ohio State
  6. Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State
  7. Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss
  8. Jayden Maiava, USC
  9. LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina (up 1)
  10. Sam Leavitt, LSU (down 1)
  11. Drake Lindsey, Minnesota
  12. Austin Simmons, Missouri (new)

Why Moore is still No. 1

Moore sat out again against UCLA with the concussion, and Oregon lost. Treacy argues that the loss may have helped Moore’s case more than it hurt it. His replacement, Dylan Raiola, was benched after going 6 of 19 for 43 yards with two interceptions. Treacy reads that as a sign that Moore’s uneven start was not all on him. Oregon coach Dan Lanning has not given a timeline for Moore’s return.

Carr up, Manning down

Carr went 14 of 20 for 181 yards and three touchdowns in a 58-7 win over Stanford. That puts him at 16 touchdowns and one interception this season. The open question is still his schedule, which has not tested him much, so Saturday’s road trip to BYU carries extra weight.

Manning’s two late interceptions against Oklahoma overshadowed the plays he did make. Treacy noted that Manning has thrown at least one interception in four of his five starts, even in an offense that does not throw a lot, and that he has not hurt defenses with his legs the way he did before. He wrote that Manning “might soon start running out of time” to prove he is the top quarterback in the class. Texas hosts a struggling Florida team on Saturday.

Where Mestemaker fits

Mestemaker went 19 of 28 for 304 yards and two touchdowns in the win over UCF. Treacy still has him sixth. He pointed out that Mestemaker has to decide whether to go back to school next season, which makes his last seven games worth watching. That is a long way from the boards we covered this week. Dane Brugler has Mestemaker as his QB1, and Brent Sobleski’s latest first-round mock sends him third overall to the Miami Dolphins as the first quarterback taken.

Mensah and Miami were off in Week 6. He still has no interceptions through five games and hosts Florida State this weekend. Sayin has 11 touchdown passes and one interception over his last three starts, and Ohio State goes to Indiana, the team that beat the Buckeyes in last season’s Big Ten title game.

The risers

South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers had his best game of the year in a road win at Florida, going 23 of 35 for 279 yards with five total touchdowns. USC’s Jayden Maiava threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions at Penn State. Missouri’s Austin Simmons joins the list at No. 12 with 14 touchdowns and one interception through six games.

Chambliss, seventh here, threw three touchdown passes in a 52-point win over Vanderbilt. Treacy wrote that questions about his size and age are not going away, but that his stock should hold as long as he keeps playing like a Heisman finalist.

What to watch Saturday

Carr at BYU, Manning against Florida, Mensah against Florida State and Sayin at Indiana could all reshuffle this list again before next week’s boards come out.

The why matters.
