The Buffalo Bills did not fly home after Monday night’s 37-34 overtime win over the Los Angeles Rams. They have set up their Week 6 headquarters in Irvine, California, and are practicing at UC Irvine on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before flying to Las Vegas on Saturday, head coach Joe Brady said.
The alternative was a late-Monday flight that landed in Buffalo early Tuesday morning, followed by another cross-country trip on Saturday. Instead the team flies home after Sunday’s game against the Raiders, then has its Week 7 bye.
Why Brady stayed west
“There is a recovery component to it. And being out here, I think there could be a lot of growth, both as our football team and helping our recovery,” Brady said Tuesday. “We’re together, they’re together, they’re going through all this together out here, kind of away from everything. Our job is still to go out and win this football game.”
Brady returned to the theme on Wednesday, when he also talked about cleaning up penalties and protecting the ball.
The clock decision he would change
Brady said Tuesday that criticism of his overtime clock management against the Rams was fair. “I do wish I probably took two knees and then we kicked the game-winner,” he said. Tyler Bass made the 45-yard kick on second down right after the two-minute warning. Brady said he did not want to risk a fumble or a hit on Josh Allen. “The 45 and the 47 is not a big difference,” he said of the kneel-down option.
Roster shuffle settled
The week started with a roster reversal. Buffalo re-signed outside linebacker Mike Danna on Tuesday, a day after releasing him, and then brought cornerback Anthony Kendall back to the practice squad on Wednesday, the club announced. Our Danna and Kendall story has the details.
The Bills play the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, October 18, at 4:25 p.m. EDT.
