The Steelers went 12–4 in the regular season and the Cardinals went 9–7. The Steelers had already beaten the San Diego Chargers in the Divisional round and the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game. Counting from the 1999 season, it was the franchise’s second Super Bowl title. The loss ended the Cardinals’ season.
