Amik Robertson leads the NFL with eight passes defended after five weeks. The Commanders cornerback is one ahead of six players tied at seven, and he has not yet turned any of those breakups into an interception.

Robertson has also made 33 tackles, 25 of them solo, and forced a fumble. His best game came in Week 3, when he broke up four passes and forced a fumble in Washington’s 33-31 win over Seattle, the Commanders’ only victory so far. Washington is 1-3-1.

Breakups without the picks

Robertson had no passes defended in the opener at Philadelphia, then got two at Dallas and four against Seattle. He has had one in each of the last two games, including the 27-27 overtime tie with the Giants on Sunday. His nine tackles against the Colts in London are his high for the season.

Two of the players tied for second play for the Rams, with safety Quentin Lake and cornerback Trent McDuffie both at seven. Tampa Bay also has two of the top 10, with Jacob Parrish at seven and Zyon McCollum at six.

Washington plays last in Week 6

The Commanders visit the 5-0 49ers on Monday night. By then, the chasers will have played. Samuel’s Steelers visit Parrish and McCollum’s Buccaneers on Sunday, the Rams host Arizona, and Banks and the Giants host New Orleans. McCreary and the Lions are on a bye.

The why matters.
