The Eagles opened Dickerson’s 21-day IR window Wednesday. The three-time Pro Bowl left guard was limited, said he has no idea if he will play Carolina, and deflected questions about his long-term role.

Landon Dickerson is back on the grass. The Philadelphia Eagles opened the three-time Pro Bowl left guard’s 21-day injured-reserve practice window Wednesday, and Dickerson said he felt “a lot better than [he] did Week 1” after a bone bruise and other knee issues that shelved him after the opener against Washington.

Day to day, no promises for Carolina

Dickerson was a limited participant and said he has “no idea” whether he will be activated for Sunday’s home game against the Carolina Panthers. He is taking the week day by day and believes the knee is not the kind of injury that has to linger once it is healed.

“Last year was definitely [lousy], kind of being hurt the whole year, and then starting off this year, the goal was make it to the start of season healthy, which didn’t happen,” Dickerson said. “So I’m glad [I’m] able to get ahead of it and not have to do the same thing I did last year. So confident, and I think obviously, how I feel, and then how the coaches feel, as long as I look good out there, and they think I’m looking good, and yeah, you just kind of go from there.”

Asked whether he still sees himself as Philadelphia’s long-term left guard, he deflected. “That’s a great question. Do they have a media day for Nick and Howie? You can ask them that,” he said, referring to Nick Sirianni and Howie Roseman.

A shuffled line waiting on him

Sirianni called Dickerson “a hell of a player” and said the club loves him, but he would not commit to an immediate starting job for Willie Lampkin, the undrafted guard who debuted Sunday. Lane Johnson’s retirement and the Cam Jurgens trade to Baltimore left the Eagles with nine different offensive line starters through five weeks. Dickerson reflected on those departures as well, noting how much time offensive linemen spend together.

Philadelphia also opened practice windows for Jakorian Bennett, Grant Calcaterra and Eli Stowers. Saquon Barkley (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (hamstring/toe) did not practice Wednesday as the Eagles (2-3) try to stop a three-game skid against the Panthers.

The why matters.
