Thirty-eight days from mid-October, the NFL closes its 2026 international slate Sunday, November 22, when the Minnesota Vikings visit the San Francisco 49ers at Estadio Banorte in Mexico City — a Week 11 Sunday night window and the league’s return to Mexico for the first time since 2022.
Kickoff is 8:20 p.m. Eastern / 7:20 p.m. Mexico City time. The 49ers are the designated home club. The date sits one week after Patriots–Lions in Munich and caps a nine-game overseas map that already touched Melbourne, Rio, London, Paris, Madrid and Munich.
Why Mexico City sits on this calendar
Mexico remains the league’s largest fan market outside the United States. The 2026 stop opens a new three-year commitment to regular-season games in Mexico and will be the sixth Mexico City regular-season contest since 2005. San Francisco is a familiar visitor: the club beat Arizona 38–10 at the same stadium on Monday night in 2022 and also played there in the league’s first Mexico City regular-season game in 2005.
Arturo Olivé, the league’s Mexico director general, tied the Banorte return to year-round investment in the market — fan programs, flag football development and community work — when the Week 11 matchup was confirmed in May. Peter O’Reilly, the league’s executive vice president for club business, major events and international, grouped Mexico City with the rest of the record overseas slate when that map dropped.
What is already locked
Matchup, venue and Eastern kickoff are published. The game carries the Sunday night national window. Ticket and travel packages have been sold through the league’s hospitality partner and club channels; local on-sale waves for general admission have been announced in stages on the league’s Mexico City hub.
Estadio Banorte is the rebranded Estadio Azteca footprint after its 2026 renovation. The venue has hosted some of the league’s most-watched international nights, and this November game is the last overseas date before the domestic holiday stretch that includes Thanksgiving Week.
