Aaron Rodgers threw three touchdown passes for the third week in a row in Sunday’s 34-22 win over the Indianapolis Colts, and the Pittsburgh Steelers say no quarterback in franchise history had managed that within one season since Terry Bradshaw in 1982.
The run marks a sharp turn from the way Rodgers began the year. Through the first two weeks he had one touchdown pass between them, and the Steelers scored only three points in a Week 2 loss at New England. Since then he has thrown nine touchdowns in three games, and Pittsburgh has climbed to 3-2.

Three games, nine touchdowns
The streak started on September 27 against Cincinnati, when Rodgers completed 19 of 34 passes for 292 yards and found Roman Wilson from 38 yards, Ben Skowronek from 23 and DK Metcalf from 6 in a 30-27 win settled by a late Chris Boswell field goal.
Four days later in Cleveland he threw for 299 yards and three more scores, to Wilson, Darnell Washington and Pat Freiermuth, and ran in a two-point try to tie the game with 1:42 left. A 56-yard field goal with 10 seconds to go handed the Steelers a 27-24 defeat anyway, and Rodgers was also intercepted twice that night.
Sunday was his cleanest outing of the three. Rodgers went 22 of 31 for 235 yards with no interceptions and a 125.1 passer rating. His first touchdown went 80 yards to Jaylen Warren, and he hit Freiermuth twice, from 1 yard early in the second quarter and from 17 yards with 6:35 to play to push the lead to nine. Warren finished with 101 rushing yards and 87 receiving yards.
Where Rodgers stands
Across five starts, Rodgers has completed 110 of 184 passes for 1,234 yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. Over the three-game streak alone he is 63 of 105 for 826 yards with nine scores and three picks.
Bradshaw’s run came in 1982, a season cut to nine games by a players’ strike. That the club had to reach back more than four decades says something about how rarely Pittsburgh quarterbacks have strung together games like these, even through the long Ben Roethlisberger era.
Keeping the streak alive could get harder. Wilson, who caught two of the nine touchdowns, is expected to miss a couple of weeks with a finger injury.
What comes next
The Steelers visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, October 18, at 1:00 p.m. EDT. The full box score from the Colts game is in the Colts-Steelers Game Center.
