Smith back after month on IR

The Dallas Cowboys activated guard Tyler Smith from injured reserve and waived running back Emari Demercado, according to the team’s transaction log.

Smith had been on reserve/injured, designated for return, since September 9. The Cowboys designated him to return on October 5, and his activation restores a veteran starter to the interior offensive line ahead of Sunday’s Week 5 game against the Chicago Bears.

Demercado waived to clear a spot

Demercado, claimed off waivers from Kansas City on August 31, was waived to create the roster spot. He appeared sparingly during his short stint in Dallas.

The Cowboys also made the Joey Porter Jr. trade official earlier in the week; the cornerback missed Thursday’s game against Tampa Bay with an illness.
