Aaron Wilson reported Wednesday that the Houston Texans are designating linebacker Henry To’oTo’o for return from injured reserve, opening a practice window before he must be activated or revert to IR.
Shoulder timeline
To’oTo’o hurt his shoulder in the Week 1 loss to Buffalo and went on IR on September 15. He appeared in one game this season and recorded two tackles. Designating him for return lets him practice with the club while Houston decides when to add him to the 53-man roster within the league’s return window.
The 2023 fifth-round pick out of Alabama posted 95 tackles, 2.5 sacks and four pass breakups across 17 games in 2025 and signed a two-year extension this offseason. His return would bolster a linebacker group that has been thin since Jake Hummel and others also landed on IR earlier this fall.
Week 6 context in London
Houston already activated tackle Braden Smith from IR on Wednesday ahead of Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium. Tank Dell remains in his own return window after a long knee recovery, with general manager Nick Caserio saying he is trending toward a return this week or next if he avoids a setback.
To’oTo’o’s designation is separate from those moves and does not guarantee he plays in London. The WhyNFL Texans hub will note when the club formally activates him from the return window.
