Joey Porter Jr. joined the Dallas Cowboys in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers announced September 30, 2026. Dallas sent a 2027 sixth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick to Pittsburgh.
Porter did individual work at Dallas practice on October 1. Coach Brian Schottenheimer had not confirmed whether the cornerback would make his Cowboys debut against Houston on October 4.

Dated roster
Weekly rows describe the supplied week, not a dated transaction. Observed dates show when a record was checked, not when a contract or roster move took effect. Conflicting records remain separate. Only retained observations are shown; game-day status belongs to the availability report.
Reported transactions
These recorded moves do not form a complete career history. Current membership and effective time are not inferred from these moves.
Regular-season records. Totals use each recorded season once, even when team splits and a combined row are both shown. Rates are recalculated from the counted totals. A dash means a value is missing or cannot be calculated reliably; these records do not establish complete career coverage. The current-season row is as of the update time above and can differ from the season statistics section, which adds up box scores through the latest recorded final.

Mike McCarthy said the second-year defensive lineman will miss at least four games, another loss for a Pittsburgh defense already without cornerback Jamel Dean.
