Jacksonville Jaguars starting left tackle Anton Harrison is headed for arthroscopic knee surgery and has been placed on injured reserve, ending the wait that followed Monday’s MRI after he was carted off in London.
Ian Rapoport reported that Harrison, the blindside starter for Trevor Lawrence since 2023, is expected to undergo the procedure once he returns from England. During the operation, doctors will decide whether he is out three to five weeks or closer to three to four months for the regular season. The Jaguars later confirmed the injured-reserve move on their roster release, ruling him out at least four games.
Rapoport added that the shorter window would still point toward injured reserve, while the longer one would effectively end Harrison’s regular season. Jacksonville filled his roster spot by signing safety Kaevon Merriweather to the active roster and Jacob Bobenmoyer to the practice squad.
How the injury happened
Harrison hurt his right knee in the third quarter of Sunday’s 19-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium while blocking on a run. Walker Little finished the game at left tackle. Coach Liam Coen said the next day that Harrison had just completed an MRI and that the club did not yet have results, describing him as stiff and saying the staff would need patience if he could not practice.
What it means for Week 6
The Jaguars stay in London for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans at Wembley Stadium. Rapoport said Jacksonville will face that Texans defense without its starting left tackle. Little is the likely starter on the blind side, and the club had already said it preferred a practice-squad promotion over flying in an outside lineman for the international week.
Harrison had started nearly every game since Jacksonville drafted him in the first round in 2023. Losing him for any multi-week stretch removes the most stable piece of Trevor Lawrence’s protection before a divisional matchup abroad.
What comes next
Kickoff against Houston is Sunday, October 18, at 9:30 a.m. EDT. The surgical findings will set Harrison’s real timetable, and his designation will continue to appear on the injury report.
