Game preview

Preview updated October 3, 2026: Both teams have issued their Saturday game-status reports. New Orleans has ruled out three defenders, while Pete Werner and Noah Fant remain questionable.

The Atlanta Falcons visit the New Orleans Saints at Caesars Superdome on Monday, October 5. Kickoff is 8:15 p.m. EDT, or 7:15 p.m. CDT in New Orleans. Both teams enter this NFC South game at 1–2.

How to watch Falcons at Saints

The national television broadcast is on ESPN. WDSU 6 carries the game locally in New Orleans. NFL+ subscribers can watch live primetime games on phones and tablets; that mobile access should not be confused with a live television-device stream. For audio, WWL 870 AM and 105.3 FM carry the Saints broadcast, and Westwood One supplies national radio coverage.

Saturday game-status reports for both teams

New Orleans ruled out linebacker Kaden Elliss (calf) and edge defenders Carl Granderson (ankle) and Anfernee Jennings (knee) for Monday’s game in its Saturday, October 3 final report. Linebacker Pete Werner (shoulder) and tight end Noah Fant (abdomen) are questionable. Werner did not practice Saturday; Fant remained limited. Barion Brown and Christen Miller advanced to full participation, joining Julian Blackmon and Martin Emerson Jr.; none of those four received a game-status designation. A player without a designation is not guaranteed a particular role or workload.

Atlanta listed linebacker Divine Deablo and defensive end Samson Ebukam as questionable for Monday because of hamstring injuries in its Saturday, October 3 game-status report. Linebacker Yasir Abdullah was added as questionable because of illness in a later Saturday update; he was a full participant in practice. The Falcons listed no players as doubtful or out. Ebukam practiced fully Saturday, while Deablo remained limited; full practice participation does not erase Ebukam’s questionable designation.

How Etienne’s absence changes the Saints’ backfield

Travis Etienne Jr. went on injured reserve October 1 and must miss at least four games. Kellen Moore identified Alvin Kamara and Kendre Miller as backs capable of handling the resulting workload, with CJ Donaldson also having a role. That supports a shared response rather than assigning one player all of Etienne’s touches.

The four-game minimum covers Atlanta on October 5, Minnesota on October 11, the road game against the Giants on October 18 and Pittsburgh in Paris on October 25. That is the minimum absence required by the roster designation, not a forecast of when Etienne will be ready to return.

Donaldson has been used in short-yardage situations and pass protection. Those responsibilities matter for Tyler Shough as much as a projected rushing total would. Practice-squad backs Zamir White and newly signed Ulysses Bentley IV provide depth, but a practice-squad contract does not itself make either player active Monday.

The October 1 transactions also promoted receiver Kevin Austin Jr. to the active roster and added edge rusher David Ojabo to the practice squad. Bentley entered the league with Indianapolis as an undrafted free agent in 2025 and appeared in one game as a rookie.

What to watch before kickoff

With Elliss, Granderson and Jennings out and Werner questionable, the Saints’ linebacker and edge depth is worth following together when assessing how the defense distributes work against Atlanta. No replacement starter or snap count is confirmed here. On offense, watch how New Orleans divides carries and protection assignments after the backfield change rather than assuming the depth chart settles both questions.

Both teams’ game designations are from Saturday, October 3. Recheck Monday’s inactive list for the players who remain questionable; Saturday practice participation and game status are separate.
