Patriots beat Chargers 24–21 in the Divisional round

The New England Patriots beat the San Diego Chargers 24–21 on the road at Qualcomm Stadium in the Divisional round of the 2006 playoffs on January 14, 2007. It was decided by 3 points, a field goal or less.

The Patriots went 12–4 in the regular season and the Chargers went 14–2. The Patriots had already beaten the New York Jets in the Wild Card round. The Patriots’ run ended in the AFC Championship Game, a 38–34 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The loss ended the Chargers’ season.

In their previous meeting, the San Diego Chargers won 41–17 on October 2, 2005. When they met again, the New England Patriots won 38–14 on September 16, 2007.
