Buccaneers beat Falcons 27–24 in 2005 Week 16

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Atlanta Falcons 27–24 at home at Raymond James Stadium in overtime in Week 16 of the 2005 regular season on December 24, 2005. It was decided by 3 points, a field goal or less.

It was the only game of Week 16 to need overtime.

The result moved the Buccaneers to 10–5 and dropped the Falcons to 8–7. The Falcons finished 2005 at 8–8 and missed the playoffs. The Buccaneers finished 2005 at 11–5 and lost in the Wild Card round.

In their previous meeting, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won 30–27 on November 20, 2005. When they met again, the Atlanta Falcons won 14–3 on September 17, 2006. The Buccaneers swept the 2005 season series.
