Game recap

Pittsburgh recovered from a costly penalty, then forced the deciding turnover

Week 3 recap: September 27, 2026. The Pittsburgh Steelers edged the Cincinnati Bengals 30–27 at Acrisure Stadium. Chris Boswell’s late field goal supplied the winning points; Derrick Harmon’s strip sack of Joe Burrow, recovered by Sebastian Joseph-Day, removed Cincinnati’s final chance to answer.

The winning drive survived an apparent breakthrough being erased

A holding penalty wiped out most of an 87-yard Jaylen Warren run with the game tied in the fourth quarter. Pittsburgh immediately rebuilt the possession: Aaron Rodgers found DK Metcalf for 14 yards and Darnell Washington for 47, then Warren ran for 26. Boswell eventually made a 33-yard field goal with 2:15 remaining.

Cincinnati still moved into Pittsburgh territory. Harmon then delivered the Steelers’ only sack of the game and forced the fumble that Joseph-Day recovered with 44 seconds left. The decisive defensive play arrived after an afternoon largely shaped by the quarterbacks.

Two different Skowronek contributions mattered

Ben Skowronek caught one of Rodgers’ three touchdown passes, then recovered a muffed punt in the fourth quarter. That recovery set up the field goal that tied the game at 27 after Burrow’s touchdown pass to Mike Gesicki had put Cincinnati ahead.

Rodgers finished with 292 passing yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Warren added 127 rushing yards and 49 receiving yards. Burrow threw for 282 yards and three scores without an interception, but Cincinnati lost two fumbles. Pittsburgh’s offense provided enough explosive plays to keep pace; special teams and the last defensive possession supplied the narrow difference.
